You are correct, BUT, the main problem beeing that not all radio stations include TMC data in their RDS information.

For example, here in Sweden you might have 20 (or so) different radio stations where I live, but only two of them (both of them public service, none of them anything I listen to normally) transmit TMC data.

That's why I assumed I needed two tuners/recievers, one for what I actually want to listen to and one dialed in to the TMC transmiting station(s).

You could do it with two tuners but I think it's quite expensive and I don't know if that is done, they do it for digita radio but for TMC?

the TMC data is decoded in the RDS data Stream - so I think (I have read the TEF datasheet only shortly) it's supporting the complete RDS Stream (included TMC).
"Professional" Navigation systems have a second tuner for that so that you can listen to station without TMC.

TMC IMHO is not nescessary for this project... - What do you want to do with the TMC data ? You will give this TMC data to your navisystem (Map and Guide, Destinator3, ... in "GNS" TMC protocoll) !!??
You have to merge the undecoded TMC stream into the NMEA stream from your GPS mouse (this is the GNS2.0 protocoll for TMC). So you better buy a GPS mouse with TMC support (this gives you also the benefit that you can listen to ANY station with racemiers tuner) !

I don't think it ever was a requirement, but in time when everything else is taken care of it would be a nice feature.
Most frontend developers will have built in support for this unit, they also have their own navigation program (based on D3) or embedd one or the other
and then TMC will come in handy since everyone won't have to go out and buy a new GPS mouse, especially for all of us who want to use a OEM GPS reciever, since none of them have TMC support.

The engineering model for Design C (CRAM) is assembled and passed power cycling tests. By bit banging two parallel port lines, we were able to communicate with the signal processor and correctly read the expected status words.
