Only thing I'm worried about is 5.1
It's going to be tough to implement that...
Nice! I was confused trying to figure it out

Get the stereo signal from the radio output to the 5.1 soundcard's input, let the PC transform it to virtual surround sound and then, from soundcard's 5.1 output wire it to the amps...Originally Posted by JC-S60

We are, will have and forever will be...
But not tommorrow!
IIRC Radio isn't broadcast as dd5.1. Thats why you only need 2channel stereo to be outputted from the HU card to the PC. The PC's 5.1 sound decoder will create the 5.1 output from a stereo signal.
@darquepervert: maybe I should draw a picture of what I meant, but the others seem to have understood...
Well, the line-in sounds good, as long as you don't use an audigy 2 nx...
A lot of people here use that sounddevice... including me. In my case I haven't got enough room to put an internal soundcard, and I don't know of any external card that supports on-the-fly re-coding...
Would be nice if it was possible to use the onboard line-in and the audigy as output... or if anyone knows about a 5.1 24bit external soundcard that supports this, I would be very happy!
Small update about the car tuner project 1 and 2.
For the moment we are at the stage that USB is working together with I²C.
On the PC side we have a functional program which can send info by I²C and we have a program which sends USB info to the module.
Also receiving the RDS info over I²C is possible but still need some fine tuning.
Next step is to complete the program with all the needed features for the PIC and fine tune the PC program.
After this some testing need to be done and then the module is ready for ... if there is still intrest for it.
