Yes, read the FAQ.

It's far more than just a replacement. If it works, it's a significant upgrade to the Dlink.

Question: what is the RJ45 socket for?

I think I recon a molex power connector, some audio in/out and a knob, but the RJ45 connector.?.!
maybe I missed something? I tough I did read the whole 2 threads..?

I believe that's the ICSP port -- to allow for firmware upgrades and in circuit debugging.

That's not a knob. It's a standard automotive antenna (aka Motorola) recepticle.

The connector is an I²C output to connect later devices through USB to the PC like Rando's compass. in order not to get lost
