Hmmm, mind if I be devil's advocate for a second? I'm not sure if I believe it myself (it's late). Let's suppose that you are working on a cure for, I dunno, cancer, and you announced that you have a breakthrough formula for protecting cell dna so that it can't be harmed by UV light (just for example). If you told the public and there were some who really needed the cure, don't you think you just created a responsibility to follow through? I mean, you attracted the attention for a purpose and you created this intense joy in those who are now relying on you to finish it and are willing to pay whatever it takes to get this cure...In our situation it's just a little downscaled, some are willing to pay good money for what they consider a "necessity" so hopefully these guys will be compensated for their hard work. I mean, it's just mean (I say that lightheartedly guys!)) to say , "OOh, oooh! I have what you need! ...but I'm too busy to give it to you..."
Patience is a virtue, we have to have it, but all the same hopefully these engineering studs won't leave us hanging...

Just because you come up with the greatest thing since sliced bread, doesn't obligate you to share it with the world the moment you have any sort of progress or new information. It doesn't matter how many people it will benefit.

Nobody's curing cancer here. Sure, we all want a quality AM/FM tuner for the PC, either in-car or out-of-car. These guys are really good at posting their updates to the first post in the thread for all to read. There's no need for anyone to remind them to post their updates. As far as I'm concerned, Tuckie's post was a mindless thread bump. That, in and of itself, is nto a bad thing.

Now, Mr. Analogy-of-curing-cancer, if you would read the entire thread, you'd know that right now the bulk of the project is mired down in finding small-volume suppliers to be able to produce small product runs. I believe one part had a minimum order of 1000 or 5000 or something, but they're looking for a couple hundred (if that many).
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

yep. i think thats what everybody has seem to forgotten is that as far as everything goes with the project, its ready for a production run, but rando and seth cant aford to do 1000 or 5000 qty. production runs when all they need is like <100. even with the contribution of everyone here, they still wouldnt be able to afford 1000-5000. now 100 is alot more feasable.

just curious, what about the suppliers that zootjeff or any of the other electrical engineers are using here? I don't know, maybe zootjeff produces each board himself. Just a thought

    Production runs?

I thought the firmware for the MCU is not completed yet. Although they had a working model but from what I understood it only runs via I2C bus.

I think seths is aware that Im designing a homebrew PCB version of their CRAM project. Have done most of the component placement and routing but something is telling me that the published design will change very soon, it just didnt feel complete to me. It almost feel like its a test version, there are still too many headers for testing purposes.

In the meantime I have put the homebrew PCB version on hold until they can confirm a full working version.

No Im not gonna ask them guys Im just gonna wait

But what I'm saying is wouldn't you be taking on the responsibility once you announced it to the public. I mean, what then is the purpose of announcing it?

I guess I forgot to qualify myself, I have been up to date on this thread since the earlier threads that spawned this one; I have not been bugging them for the product. But I am excited to see it come to fruition just as much as anyone. I just wanted to get a little philosophical to perhaps keep you guys from butchering the newcomer.

Its the decoder and tuner parts they are having problems ordering in lower quatities. The part zoots uses are easy to find, can even get them free samples.

I can understand what ddogg_777 is trying to say. I mean alot of members here are excited, they are naturally curious about the progress.

If the project is not moving for too long and no update to say the project is not dead, that only keep poeple hanging on. I mean if the project will finish next month they will wait, if the project will finish next year then they might aswell find an alternative.

Not to put the project down but I can understand those who concern about the delay.

As for the cancer it can make a lot of difference how one would wanna live If they know they can be cured or not...that be the same analogy what ddogg is trying to say...kinda

Thanks for understanding! I know my analogy was extreme, but everyone can quantify there "need" for the radio on their own

Go Rando, Seth, Racemier, and those I missed!!! woot woot
