Its not actually a datasheet, they call it a fact sheet, and according to the info the FS2022 and FS2023 modules supports DAB and FM in the range of 87.5MHz to 108MHz. And I assume that because it supports digital radio, the audio data is transmitted by means of a digital stream trough the USB port? I'm not sure, perhaps a specialist like racemier or rando can have a look? But probably the biggest problem will be to buy one.

well the fact that they actually list an automotive one seperately from the ones you specified makes me think they may not be suited for the car. also, none of the modules on that page support AM radio, which was one of the goals of THIS project. nice find, but i think it would need to be a completely seperate project from this one, since they probably wouldn't share much, if any design.

and now i have a question... why is rds so important? i've played with a few radios in many different vehicles that have it, from many different automakers... sure, it's kinda nifty that sometimes the song title shows up, or a radio station's callsign.... but half the time, the song info is wrong, and i have YET to see the TRAF button do anything besides switch to an easy-listening station. there's also been times where i am trying to tune in a station and the damn rds data shows up, covering up the frequency, so i am flying blind trying to tune in a station. if i could find a way to turn rds OFF, i would. thankfully my scion deck doesn't show rds info. i had it in another car., and i don't miss it.

i would be perfectly content with just an am/fm tuner that is controlled by my pc, which shows me what frequency i am currently listening to. i'm a simple guy. (sometimes).

I agree that it has not much to do with this project, however, all the people in this thread are all interested in something like this. That's why I placed it here. And about RDS, I don't know how it works in the States but I use it every day.

actually, i wouldnt mind losing AM support at all. my main interest is the increased reception and the RDS capability.

what does it do? i mean, how do you use it? all it does here is show song names (sometimes). during commercials, and when the dj is talking (and this is really bad during morning shows) it either shows the last song played, or nothing at all. if stations were consistent about sending the data, it might be useful, just knowing the name of the song/artist, but otherwise i see no value in it. i don't know how many times the data didn't refresh... and it was showing the name of the song that finished 15 minutes ago even though other songs have come and gone...

Some radiostations here send info about were mobile speed cameras are located, traffic control etc. Also weather and other info is transmitted using RDS, most stations here don't even send song info.

no matter how radio stations utilize RDS, I find it as a useful tool. otherwise you would be lost with just a frequency number and whatever is broadcasted on said station to find info about what station it is, song playing, etc.. although i could easily do without, it would be nice to keep RDS in as much as possible.
