After reading further: seems like the direction input takes only a 1 or 0 input. For instance: 1 for forward and 0 for backward, or vice versa. Could anybody verify this?
@hklomann: Thanks for the diagram. Sure does make it a lot clearer. I plan on purchasing it in the near future then.
From what I read the direction sensor (pin 7) is optional. Is that correct? I'm wondering where would that pin be connected to.

if that's the case.. maybe we can wire it to the reverse. Then it knows when we're going backward. Really, someone needs to verify this.. only $230 more to go and I will have one of these puppy.Originally Posted by edikp
why donīt you download the datasheet
i paid 229euros incl active antenna and gyro + 54 euros tax
actualy i am looking for env-05g datasheet cause there is no socket on board
so we might find someone to do a lil pcb layout for the max 232 serial (i would like to put an rs232to usb here to power the system)linedrivers the backup batterie and the gyro and the reverse input and the speedpulse
everything is possible

I did download the datasheet.. If you look at the bottom of page four, you'll see the datasheet that I posted... Only problem is... I am not an electrician.. I have no idea what all these things means. So my best bet is to following a smart one, and you my sir... is my smart one.Originally Posted by hklomann

The Garmin 15L fits really great inside my Travla C137, thanks for the info about it...

Hooking up a max232 is not going to be a problem. There are even versions of the chip that don't require external capacitors -- a single chip solution.Originally Posted by hklomann
Well, a little update for everyone who is thinking about Garmin 15l mods. Windows might think that its a serial trackball mouse, which will cause the mouse to move irratically across the screen.
I first installed the GPS mod on a version of nLited windows and I was able to recieve a signal. I since then changed my windows confguration and re-nLited it (for those of you who don't know what nLite is it basically chops useless stuff from windows making it smaller and run less bloated)
ANyhow, one my re-installs the GPS mod was causing my mouse to go nuts, even during setup rendering the machine useless. At first I thought it was an IRQ conflict, but after troubleshooting for hours started thinking of other causes.
DUring this trouble shooting process I figured out that the Garmin has an internal power source which can last up to 21 days so even if you unplug its power it will still send a signal to your system. THat being said and you run into the same problem unplus the input cable instead of the power cable.
Now, be-fuddled as to how to correct this problem I decided to call Garmin... Let me make a recomendation here, don't call them if you enjoy having a low stress level because thier tech support is aweful !!!!
They are aware of this happening and thier solution is to simply unplug the GPS mod and plug it back it after windows has booted. Windows thinks that the gps mod is a serial trackball MOUSE. This is the only peice of information that I got from them that was helpful..
To fix this problem, go to device manager make sure that windows is seeing 2 mouse one should be your real mouse and the other is a driver windows selected for your gps mod. Take the driver "Sermouse.sys" and rename it to sermouse.bak.sys and uninstall the serial mouse in device manager. THen reboot the system with the gps mod plugged back in and this should solve your problem.
Progress [I will seriously never be done!]

Am am just curious if anybody has dealt with a tech support group lately that does't stink?????Originally Posted by IntellaWorks

Linksys for one is the worst. About 4 years ago when I got my first Linksys device their tech support was GREAT... solved every problem I had quickly and properly. They were located in the US and had real knowledge.... Now it is a bunch or dumbasses in India that just type what you say into a database and read back the anwer to you. Most calls to Linksys lately have resulted in them screwing something else up, which I have to fix... them try to fix the original problem I called about.....
Sorry to divert... but you got me fired up again about crappy tech support....
