    3-10 Second Boot!

I found a website that claims they can embed Windows 98 / ME with EOS onto a flash drive and boot as fast as 3 seconds!

Go to the bottom of this page:

I think it WAS that quick, but in order to make it that quick, they removed just about every multimedia component leaving the disk image almost completely unusable from an in car computer perspective. That said I see the logic of being able to cut down boot time by removing parts of the OS that are no use to you in your particular application. Going back to the first point however it is stated somewhere on a site I read in relation to this software that it is exactly the things that we need for an in car computer (i.e. audio and video related) that are responsible for long boot up times. Bottom line is that this sort of software will help but as quite correctly pointed out, you ain't gonna get a full blown multimedia system to boot in under 5 secs ... sorry !!!

    My 2 cents.

It's possible to make a windows xp OS boot pretty fast plus its more stable. I'd rather wait 5 more seconds for a more stable system.. thats just my 2 cents tho.

    Talking

My suggestion is to skip the Win 98 idea!
Xp have much more Multimedia support and it very tweakable.

The tip is to enable Hibernation. (found in --> controlpanel/poweroptions )
    And whats that?
Well, when you enable and associate it with the power button for example =)

Your computer is killing programs and loggs out likes usually.
But copies the entiry RAM(512Mb) to your harddrive (hd cost=512 mb)
WHen booting up it copies the Ram back to the Memory.

    I think its very usefull..!
But its recommended to reboot ordernaly at least once upon 2 weeks.
