just do the timing on the PIC side of things?
(to pic: "RELAY1_ON,2000" turn relay on for 2s then back off)
(to pic: "RELAY1_ON" turn relay on until command to turn off)

Or just have the OS send relay on when initial button press then when released send relay off....but yeah the timing issues are a big worry but I haven't really tested latency yet.

(Basically these ideas were for my window/moonroof but could be applied to bags if your controller is as simple as my friend's....it's just a bunch of toggle switches so you could easily replace the switches with relays.)

Servo controller: http://www.seetron.com/ssc.htm Allows you to control up to 8 servos via VB through the serial port.

Im a little confused about the latency time. How quickly does this bag thing need to be activated/deactivated?

Im currently testing my USB card and at a click of the mouse button the LED lights up instantly and off instantly when released.

Im sure it have some latency in ms, it is certainly fast enough such that it cant be seen.

The control apps is written in delphi 2005, PIC is written in C running the USB in fullspeed. PC is a dual processor 1GHz P3.

It looks like a PIC with a ULN Darlington Array with a bunch of relays on the gpios. You're going to need some protection on those relays, though (if you use this design).

The ULN drivers already have built in clamping diodes, thats the beauty of it.

"relay on when initial button press then when released send relay off" is EXACTLY what I'm looking for!!!!!!!!!
