PatO, do you have any pics of the remote attached to your steering wheel?

It may or may not work for you right off the bat. I had to adjust the EPS entry. Mine is set at 8.
See the troubleshooting doc for more info. (section starting with "unreliable decoding...") http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/debug.html

do you say, that my ir receiver from cesko will work with this software and blaupunkt remote?

No idea if this link / pdf is of any interest to anyone but I figured I'd post it just in case. I found this googling for the RC-10. This doc is too deep for me but looks like some dude interfaced it w/ a pc and cop car...

Boy! And I thought I had too much time on my hands!!!

Pics - ask and ye shall receive.
I'm not attaching pics of the receiver circuit because they're identical to the one in the links I posted earlier (the one with all the components in a 9-pin boot)

    Thanks!
And the top of the display sits about 1-1/2" out from the dash. The IR Bulb (a basic LED) is wedged between the Xenarc and the metal backplate I made to hold it. The bulb sits there with a very clear view of the ir receiver in the HU.

Putting the transmitter in the dome light didn't work - not strong enough, but its current spot works quite well - although you can see it from the driver or passenger seats.

I have this. It's a Pioneer CD-SR100 Steering Wheel Infrared Remote Control and I used it with an IRman receiver in my car. The IRman has a great ....field of vision? I'd guess you'd say. The only time it's not worked for me is when I rarely block the IRman receiver with my leg (usually when I put cruise control on during highway driving and move my leg away from the pedal to kind of stretch it). I could count the number of times that's happened on one hand. My IRman receiver is mounted on the bottom side of my steering column and even when turning and my remote is up at 12 o'clock on the wheel it still picks it up. I wish I hadn't spent so much on my touchscreen, I never use it since I have that remote and I like that way better. I don't have to take my eyes off the road and there are never any finger prints on my screen. I also have one button mapped to hibernate the PC so that's very handy too. I really recommend the route I took if you are considering an IR remote and receiver, works great.
