    Yep.
From what I remember the Smart Access was bluetooth. But I guess its just plain old RF

"Another new option is Smart Access. This allows you to drive the car without ever taking the key out of your pocket. As long as the electronic key is within arm's length of the car when you grab the door handle, the door (or doors, depending on how you set it up) will unlock, allowing you to enter. You can then start the car by simply turning the ignition switch (there are finger grips on the ignition switch that allows you to turn it without using the key)."

Smart Access and Smart key are lexus technologies.

One advantage of using bluetooth though: separate keyfobs have different PINs. So you could give one to someone with their personolized settings (car setas, mirrors, driver profile, etc)..

yea, that's definitely cool, but then you need to interface either the PIC box and/or the computer with all those systems in the car.

That's a lot more complex than just locks and windows.

Yeh, its a lot more complex, but its also a lot more functional

1.5m radius: low power needed for transmitter.

definitely, but do you know how the seat/mirror system works?

I would love to be able to controll all that from the touch screen, and have presets and stuff, and maybe have each BT key corespond to a preset.

My car has 3 buttons for the seating positions (1, 2, and SET). If I was to design the BT system, then I would hook up the relay to click 1 or 2 based on the key set.
But this would be useless because I only let myself drive my car

Is it just high-torqu servos or stepper motors controlling the seats and mirrors? If so, a servo controller card in the computer could controll those.
