led character display on the rear window?

does anyone use something similar to this: ?

I would like to install some panel whitch will be readable from cars staying/driving behind me.. On the rear glass. And i would like to control text on the display through PC. So i type a text. for exampl "sorry, i am hurry"

    do you understand me?

everything i have found is very expensive or not controlable from pc. So i think this would be a great thing

theres a project in this site that has a 32X32 led screen and controller
its not really enough to write something but you can define certain symbols or smilies.
i wanted to build it but it is very expensive since you have to buy 1024 leds... not very practical...

you can acess it with a pc in serial port and define a symbol in VB... this should be pretty simple i think...

I saw one of these while driving last weekend where the guy had one of those built into his license plate holder and gave his business phone out...it was pretty neat...but small and you had to get up close to read it.

just an fyi....in most states any kind of unauthorized blinking/rotating light on a vehicle is illegal. Not sure what the fine was, but I was trying to look up the legality of a MIRT flasher in the maryland vehicle law books at the library, and i figured that would be enough to at least give you a fine.

Yea this has been tackaled before. It can be done just dont be suprised if you get a ticket.

A VFD display would probably work best as the brightness is realy high on them.
