crazzy idea

Well I always had this crazy idea to conect a fingerprint reader in the door of the car to open the doors instead of using the remote/key...how can I do this?(especially the thing about the hardware of the car(the car opening mechanism) it's a honda civic of 96 :/
the fingerprint reader would be controlled in the carPC or something..but it would have to be working all the time ..and that ...kinda S*cks

I have experience working with fingerprint readers and Iris scanners.. they're all USB devices (except for a few paralell ones) -- and the software needs to be running to monitor it the whole time.. so basically this would be unusable because your carpc would have to be ON the whole time (draining your battery)... But there are alternative standalone fingerprint keylocks that could be adapted to trigger the lock of the car (completely separate from the carpc)...

remote starter, auto boot, no logon and auto boot of fingerprint program.... maybe that would work? but you would have to start it 5 minutes before hand!!

thats just a random stab in the dark

sure, that would work... but hell, if you have a remote starter, why not use it to operate the door directly ?

You can run the car PC in standby mode. It would start up in seconds. You could trigger it with a key fob or put a pushbutton at the fingerprint reader.

Prepare to be locked out if your car when the PC hangs on wakeup.

If your puter had a wake on USB, than would it be easy. Puter in stanby and when your finger is on the reader, the puter wake's up and will control your finger. And place an extra batterie.
