    Can I pull out 200mA from serial port of Epia 10000?

    Can I pull out a 200mA current from serial port of Epia 10000?

    I want to power the Axiom OEM GPS module direct from Serial Port.

    Thanks

    I doubt you can get that much current from any serial port, regardless of MB. The quick search I did turned up around 10mA as the max for most boards. Why don't you just draw power directly from the PSU?

    You could pull it from the PS2 or USB port. I have my serial GPS running off of the PS2 port. Run the connection into a custom made serial connection, and then out by a really long headphone cable I had broken. Its been working for a really long time too.

    (And who uses PS2, seriously? )

    Thanks, now I use the PSU +5v, my question is only to make a unique cable for data Rx/Tx and Power supply.

    Thanks.

    @Slimmegane:

    You shouldn't need both a Rx and Tx cable. You are only going to be recieving data from the GPS aren't you? Or does it have some kind of programming feature to it? And where are you going to be putting it? I have my GPS tucked under the dash, and the computer in the trunk. This means I have something like a 6-7 meter cable running the length of the car. I just used a shielded headphone cable. One end has a DB-9 connection on it, with a short PS2 cable hanging out of it. You could just put a power connector on instead of the PS2 connection.
