Need a switch to control a DC motor both directions.

I need a 3 position switch that will control a 12V DC motor both forward and backward. The center should be open and the other 2 positions should move the motor. Also thinking about this would have to be wired up to do this properly.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

you need to buy a DPDT switch with centre off.

go buy from your countrys version of radioshack etc

I can then tell you how to wire it up.

OK... I looked up the DPDT switch and everyrthing... how do I need to wire it up? Simply from +/- to switch to motor only how does it all wire up?

Any chance of a simple diagram or can you explain it in words?

    Thanks

After doing a little more research I know what I want to use for a switch but can't seem to find any that I can order and radio shack does not carry them.

I want a 3 position DPDT momentary rocker switch that is center stable.

Anyone know where I can order one of these from? Round or rectangular is fine but has to be able to look decent in a black plastic box.

    Thanks

    point 1, Try somewhere else.

point 2, I told you what you want, in the correct terms, a switch that is 'centre stable' does not exist, its 'centre off'

pont 3, no because know one knows where you are because like most noobs you join up post a question and expect an answer, Fill in your profile and some may be near you who can advise you, profile, things like area you live in, car driven etc, pc type used, it all helps us to help you and one day you may be able to help others.

point 1: I've looked at as many sites as I know of online and still haven't found one.

point 2: you said what I needed and I took that information and decided what exactly I want, " want a 3 position DPDT momentary rocker switch that is center stable." I know center is off but when reffering to momentary center is also stable as it always returns to the center.

point 3: I said that I had checked radio shack, which basically tells you that I'm in the US. They type of car, computer and all of that really doesn't matter in this case because I'm just asking about a motor and switch. It could be for something that is not even a car and it still would not matter.

I just need help finding a switch like I stated before.

I'm not trying to act like a smartass, I'm just pointing out that I thought I had given you all the necessary information.

    Thanks

Car electric windows use the same switch.

You may wanna check some scrap yard or car parts dealer if you are having problems locating one.
