It does however have an auxiliary input, but I don't want to spend out if I don't have to! Any advice greatly recieved

    cheers in advance Soundbored...
    Hi,

Look here on post #458, you can find a pdf with all the info you need to connect the AUX input from your Update List HU. But be carefull, the input is versy sensitive and easily damaged. I suggest that you use 2 100nF condensators to protect the input.

Thankyou for your input, so how does the 100nf condensator thing work, mini iso to left and right with inline 100nf in each?

Any thoughts on the HU already having the gubbins inside to read mp3 cds, the manual shows the same unit capable of mp3 playback. I reckon it just needs switching on!

If your manual talks about MP3 then you might be right and the thing just needs to be switched on. I could not find anything about MP3 in my manual so it appears to me that you have a different Update List type. I posted a picture in the beginning of this thread where the type is shown, you can check this if you want. If you want to give it a try, a simple drawing is attached on how to connect the 100nF condensers.

    Hi everybody,

I read my way through the thread and the Sourceforge page. So I gather that to date, nobody has developed a working solution for the older Renault/ Philips head units, right? Pin out I found, but no protocol description. anywhere on the web, actually.

What protocol do the Tuner/ update list models use? Is that wildly different?
Any users who have had a shot at the Renault Radiosat 60x0/ D2B with some success?

I just got a Megane with a D2B unit and no cd changer.
I'm an E.E. myself, so if someone can tell me what the HU/ changer say to each other, I can build the rest. Or if anyone is based in the UK and has both HU and changer, I can come by with a 'scope and log it myself.

Buying a changer off ebay is too expensive (because I want the aux port, not a cd changer), might as well get a new radio w/ aux in.

    Thanks for your advice!

Right. Only newer Tuner List models work for sure.

Not that I know of, unfortunately. As for the difference, I really have no idea.

I think it's the only way to know for sure, indeed. There are many people who have expressed interest in such a solution, but to date nobody has been able to reverse engineer the way those older CDCs work.
As for cheap second-hand CD Changers, I was thinking maybe in wrecked cars ...

among the protocols listed on ۝ Mictronics - Michael's Electronic Projects ۝ , the only one that uses asynchronous two wires transfer (RX + TX + no clock) is the Blaupunkt one. Moreover it uses the same wires as our Tuner List, so that's encouraging : compare the last page of http://www.blaupunktusa.com/NR/rdonl...5E/0/MDP01.pdf to the attached pinout of the Tuner List. I also had confirmation by bistie on planeterenault.com forums that once the levels are adapted (5V TTL to 12V RS232) the protocol is compatible with a PC serial port.
Hi Vicne.. are you thereby suggesting that the protocol used by blaupunkt and by the OE renault equipment is the same, or are you merely saying, that they are both async protocols???

(im currently working on a project to fool my blaupunkt hu, which incidentally is mounted in a renault :-)

Thanks for the info. I'll try and see what I can find out. Will post if I make progress.

If anyone is interested in this and has a D2B / Radiosat 60x0 together with a CD changer, please get in touch with me!

I'm only speculating. To be clear, I have *no* idea. I just noticed some similarities...

this is slightly off-topic, but since someone mentioned it in this thread already, i'll ask anyway..

does anyone here have a schematic over the renault stalk remote control? the switches are connected in a matrix somehow, but i can't seem to get the right configuration when measuring..

the car is a renault 19 btw.. the stalk rc has 4 buttons and a wheel on it..

nm.. it works now... colors are the individual wires at the connector and S5 is the wheel (works like a rotary encoder, one switch closed at a time)
