Thread: Renault "Tuner List" Head Unit/CD changer hacking - Controls

Hello, I wrote from Spain,

I am new in this forum that I have found looking for like solving my problem with the "Cabasse UpdateList" of my Renault Laguna.

My problem is that I have activated the auxiliary entrance, with pins 10.11 and 12 of the C2 connector, and has worked perfectly during days, but now the sound is listened to very distorted, I have proven to connect CarPC, a MP3, a PocketPC and everything is listened to bad.

If I cannot repair it, the following possibility that I have is to connect entrance SPDIF with the CarPC. My UpdateList does not have cd charger that is to say, the C3 connector is right now without using, that it would have to make to use the SPDIF?

Yes, that's what I meant by my 4th possibility. If you leave the input wire hanging without any actual source, it acts as an antenna. Not an expert in SPDIF, but even ignoring the control bits, the frequency is at least 16 bits x 2 (stereo) x 44.1 kHz = 1.4 MHz, so capacitive coupling should not be underestimated.

So I just have to find another switch, maybe two on/off switches far away from each other

Well, I think if you feed the input with an actual source, it should end the crosstalk because the input voltage will be forced by the source...

I finally found the problem with the circuit

I was missing a capacitor that made the +5v to the µP to ripple so the HU didn't recognize it . Also my SPDIF optical to electrical converter works perfect.

I am new in this topic. I am interested in the PIC based CD charger emulator but I am having a hard time finding the info I need in this very long topic.

in http://tlcdcemu.sourceforge.net/pic.html the Max232 is only used for programming reason, am I right? If I have a PIC programmer I do not need the MAX232?

Where can I get the file that needs to be loaded in the PIC?

i have a scenic of february 2004 with a tuner list
i find an update list and try to connect... the radio response to eject and probably ask code but the display doesn't work

i know this should be a different pin connector between old and new model (this for what i read around the web is due to the old radio was manufactered by philips, new one by blaukpunt)

due this i find on the net some pin connection scheme but for old models....

as i read here "Warning : This pinout is for Philips/VDO/Dayton "Tuner List" and "Update List" head units only. Other models (i.e. Blaupunkt) are known to use the same physical connectors but with a different pin assignment."


does anyone here have new blaukpunt scheme connection?
is this translation possible or the new model use different codes to trasmit info to the display and steel whering controls?

Yes. But you need make signal from HU - Tx (pin 13) on discrete component. You can get part from simple version adapter (http://tlcdcemu.sourceforge.net/hardware.html) - like as signal Tx (pin 3).

dont suppose anyone has an explanation/ diagram of what pins on the face pannel do/control, i'm trying to hack the front pannel to control some parts for my car pc

i get CD error mesage on headunit...

I bought CD renault orginal cd player head unit y2001.I put it in to megan y2000 instead old cassete player headunit, everything works(tuner,display,stearing control) even CD, but the problem is when i insert CD(original or pirate) headunit read how many tracks are on cd and begin to play at first cca 5 sec i can skip track how ever i want, but when i started to listen track i get CD ERR message, cd plays normaly but i cannot change track ,i can only do that at first cca 5 sec, if a go back on tuner, and back to CD i have new cca 5 sec to change track.
What is that error mesage and what is the problem?
