Hello guys, i have Xsara Picasso made in 2002.
My HU is probably som Clarion model RD3..
Is there any way to emulate CD changer by some external device ? I have run through the whole topic, but theres great mess, so i dont know..
Thanx for any help
I want to implement this hack. I have a Nokia N8 mobile phone connected through its "USB to go" port to a Fiio D5 (a really tiny USB sound card with USB input and SPDIF coaxial output). Do I need to have any additional electronic components between the SPDIF output of the D5 and the RCA plug soldered to the CD changer? Your photo shows the RCA cable coming straight off the CD head unit but do you connect that straight to your SPDIF source or is there something else in between? (Or maybe I should say "did you connect" since four years later maybe you have moved on!)
I have a Philips radiosat 6010 how can emulate cd changer?
I have just implemented Michal's hack, connecting a Nokia N8 via a Fiio D5. This works very well and is a very easy hack to implement (after researching it and cogitating about it for about 12 months it took me only 30 minutes to do, taking into account removal and disassembly of the head unit). The in-dash CD player for the Tuner List looks like a fairly generic Phillips transport so it may be that this hack would be useful for a few other head units. In this day and age when nearly all of the functionality of a CarPC can be found in a mobile phone and you can probably now easily get a SPDIF signal out of any mobile phone that has a USB2GO port, this is potentially a great hack for anyone with an older car.
With the N8 mounted on the dash using a Nokia CR122 suction mount the touch screen is pretty handy. Still, I am now thinking about integrating the stalk controls. The Nokia N8 comes with earplugs that have a little remote control so I am musing about the possibility of interfacing the control signal to N8 via the headset socket.
Please excuse my manners. I also meant to extend a big thanks to Michal for his work in developeing this hack, Holodoc for some important debugging (in the course of which he fried a whole head unit) but importantly a massive thank you to Vicne, whose pioneering work on the TLCDEMU project was my inspiration to pursue this hack and who helpfully PM'd me some additional detail this week.
