Good point. Checked voltage. 11.82 on the 12V+ rail, and 5.20 on the 5V+ at the plug. NO reading from underneath the PCB. Reseated the plug, and I'm getting EEPRON readings now, and got the sound going! Woohoo!
I've got exactly the same symptoms, HID device is recognized, but scan picks up frequencies, but Audio zero..... Made and remade my cable a dozen times, and used external source to test the Sound card - all working - sooooo frustrating.
I did find that the HID is detected even if you dont apply the seperate 5 and 12v DC power, so you may want to check that you've got good power there. I was missing the 12v line intermittently and when I finally sussed it, I then got a decent eeprom reading, and the radio started picking up stations, no RDS, and still no AUDIO.

Nothing is ever easy with computers, is it? So everything appears to be working on the desktop, so time for the car. Fire it up, picks up the radio first time, tunes into the local stations eperfectly. No sound.
It's on a Epia MII-12k, and I maybe I screwed around with the line input settings, so I try the sound from HQCT to CD-IN. Still no joy. I'm using SPDIF into a 5.1ch amp, so I plug headphones into the line-out and sure enough, I got sound. Now I gotta work out how to get the m/b to mix CD-IN into the SPDIF output.
As far as tuning and a quick drive (with headphones) it's mostly good, picking up just about all the local major and community stations all the way from 89 to 106.7. But my favourite station is at 107.5, and that was really staticcy even though it is one of the strongest signals in the area.
On the drive I noticed a couple of stations (again major commercial ones) had what sounded like a ground loop problem (not usually an issue for me since I use digital 5.1). But it was still evident when stopped and the engine turned off, and it wasn't evident on other stations.
Have you checked your power source now that you are in the car? The PIC runs off of USB power but the tuner needs the Molex power. Also: How do you avoid ground loop problems by using 5.1?
Mine is not even detected. I tryed on 3 different computers without any luck.
I checked the USB plug about 100 times VCC D- D+ Ground as in 1 = 5V 3= D- 5= D+ 7= Ground and still nothing. I can plug it in in any of my USB ports but no luck. If I plug in the Molex I can hear a station playing but I don't have any control over it. Need to return it.![]()

Dammit I should have done a bit more research on this "line-in" to "SPDIF" stuff before hand. Seems its been going on a while, and I can't seem to be find anyone who has posted a solution. (Other than not using SPDIF!).
I did find this line-in plug-in for winamp though (which I am guessing what the RR config makes reference to):
http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/...WA2/index.html
So maybe that will work for me. Too late to dig around in the car at the moment though, so will give it a shot tomorrow hopefully. I really want to make this work! Having good radio reception is sooooo close I can taste it!
The fact that line-in doesn't work with spdif is due to the fact that line-in signals don't enter the computer. They enter the soundcard and are mixed there directly to the analog output for playback.Originally Posted by froop
Now, for recording it does enter the computer, so if someone could write a program that records the music and plays it back at the same time, it should work (with a little delay, as much as needed for the buffer). A bit like timeshifting.
If the winamp plugin works this way, we may have found a solution for winamp users wanting to use spdif.

Ok,
I have tried to use the radio in Windows before, it was detected as a HID, everything was great -- well sortof.
Linux is giving me so much trouble I decided to try a usb snooper to sniff out the packets and just do straight USB programming with the reverse-engineered packets. I haven't installed the snooper yet, and Windows does not detect my device as a HID anymore. Instead it is just an Unknown USB Device.
Why is this happening?? I swear, if I could physically hurt Windows....
Edit: Reboot once, nothing is fixed. Reboot twice and it miraculously starts working, that is M$ for you. Anyways, I sniffed the URBs being sent from the HQCT program, they are the same as the reports I have been sending. Infact, I even captured a sequence of these URBs (while changing the volume and other settings). "Replaying" these in Linux doesn't seem to accomplish anything. I have to take a break from this, it isn't getting anywhere.
For those having trouble with windows detecting the device: be sure the usb-cable makes good contact. I've had several devices act weirdly because of a faulty usb-hub, and once windows is interrupted installing a device (by it being "unplugged"), sometimes it's difficult to get windows to get it right again.

Yep, I found that out when doing some searching after I realised it didn't work!Originally Posted by JC-S60
