I will give the new version a try later, since I can see the mast I am hoping this will solve the problem I've been having of only getting about it working about 70% of a normal head unit.

I can't get this thing to work, all it does is make a buzzing noise in the audio. Not being detected as a HID, it shows up under USB in Device Manager as an unknown device. Then Windows gives me a ballon that says the device has malfunctioned. I've switched USB cables, tried cycling the module power, shutdown and restart. Nothing, zip, nada.

When you say cycling the module power do you mean this?

While the pc is running try unplugging the power cable from the power supply and plugging it back in and see what happens

    Not the usb connection

Well that’s not the same problem I had so the only advice I can give you is to try it on another pc.

Yeah I may have to try that. I'm done with it for today.

Are you sure your data lines aren't swapped?

It looks like Guino used the source from the HQCT1 software to make his own software program (RRHQCT.EXE) to control the device from RR. So I'm guess that any changes made to the HQCT1.EXE will need to be replicated by Guino into his RRHQCT.EXE.

Edit: Diogenes, can some of that stuff be moved into a HQCT.dll instead?

You're right, Guino did use the HQCT1 source to build his RRHQCT, so he has to do it once again with the latest version to incorporate the changes.

The dll idea migth be an elegant solution, see when we can implement it.

I tried the new software, and I actually thought the reception was worse than the previous one. Now that I have mounted my 6dB gain CB antenna properly, most of the local stations are fine, it's just 107.5 that I'm having real problems with - especially on one 2km stretch of road on the way to work.

But what's really strange is that it is one of the strongest transmitters in the city! Driving out of the city with the factory HU I was still listening to 107.5 long before the rest of the stations (with transmitters all within a 10-15km radius) had turned to static.

this beats me, i'll dig into the program, it might be an issue of boundaries or so.

Could you mail or post me the EEPROM data? (via the forum or by mail to info@datalex.be )
When you start up the HQCT1 software and the module you will see hex numbers in the edit field right above the 'Read EEPROM' button, if this is so you hit the 'Save' button, the data is then saved to a text file in the same directory as the HQCT1 program.
