This is working great except for hooking up my antenna. I went to my local place that usually has all kinds of this stuff... but nothing.
What size COAX is that as well? He said RG62U but I thought it was a little large.
Also know what size Motorola connector that is specifically he had about 5 different ones.
The radio module it VERY nice BTW.. super easy to get going.
Hey all. I just got a usb radio and have a few questions.
1. Where can I find the usb cables, power cables, ect.? The radio did not come with them.
2. Where can I find the documentation on the radio?
3. Where can I find the software to run the radio via a carputer?
If someone could help give me a hint on where to find these it would be much appreciated.
Here's a HINT,start by reading the thread!!!Originally Posted by waltersaegir
the problem is there are 30 plus pages to this thread, why doesn't someone go and create a webpage for the tuner that has a set of resources that includes answers to basic questions, it would save a lot of people a lot timehaving to serach and search and search and it would save people asking noobish questions and getting hte typical u r a dumb noob search around to un-noob urself response. then people would only ask questions worth asing on this thread and with a support page built there would probably be more radio tuners sold over time.
The HQCT is probably the best solution available now for carputer radio... Perhaps it's time for it to have it's own subforum?

The radio doesn't come with any, I think because most people have slightly different cabling requirements, so chances are you're going to be modifying/making your own anyway.Originally Posted by waltersaegir
If you can solder a wire, its easy. Power is just from a normal PC power plug.
Audio comes from a standard CD audio cable (usually used to connect CD-ROM to soundcard). You can run it straight from the HQCT to your soundcard (or CD-IN on motherboard) or solder a 3.5mm headphone jack onto it and plug it into your line-in socket.
USB is a little trickier, but the instructions are somewhere in the 500+ of this thread.
In this forum. Unfortunately it has become rather large, and can be quite tedious to find the information you are after2. Where can I find the documentation on the radio?
Again, in this forum there is a link to www.datalex.be where you can download the latest software from. RoadRunner also now has inbuilt HQCT support.3. Where can I find the software to run the radio via a carputer?
cmon now. slightly different cabling requirements? i call BS. off the top of my head i can think of only a small handlefull of different antenna connectors in cars.Originally Posted by froop
the most common cables should be available for purchase. otherwise the connector on the board should of been made so no adapter was needed. Ive spent the better half of the week trying to find an adapter cable that will work well. or even the connectors, and all i see is alot of people having alot of different issues with cabling. Not only finding the connectors, but also people that have made there own, getting crappy connections and having to keep messing with the cables they made.
I could care less if i spend 10 bucks and 5 in shipping if i could order the cable and know that it works. that the connections will be correctly matched, that the cable in the adapter itself is of the proper specifications.
If your not going to sell me a cable, at least tell me where you ordered the connectors at and exactly what the model/name of the connector is, what motorola plug is the correct one to use, what gauge/type of wire should i be using.
Ill make this work regardless, but thats not the point. the cables should have been either included or sold seperatly. at least the basic ones that 90% of the people would need.
to make it clear im not flaming on the people that made the tuner. so far it seems the best solution out there. and alot of people are happy with it. Im sure i will be one of those people. But........i still think there should be a way to buy premade adapters that are known to work. it would solve alot of issues.

I finally ended up today ordering a crimp on SMB connector from digikey and a motorola to GM adapter and cut the motorola end off. I am going to run coax between the two. I will see how that works. I have had a heck of a time. If you want to run RG174 there are literally 100 connectors, but I cannot find a motorola connector or a GM mini connector that will connect to RG174. Like I said I bought a crimp on SMB for RG58 and am going to see if I can make it work. The connector is 142255 at digikey.. about 20 with shipping for two of them.
