The crack pipe is probably a good idea..

You can only tune one frequency at a time, however you can quickly tune a different frequency for a couple of millisec to get its signal level, used when searching for a suitable AF (alternative frequency)..

yeah, it only takes one status cycle (<50ms) to get a signal reading for the current frequency. You can test an AF with a barely noticable stagger.

2) My HQCT seems to be off frequency by @ 50KHz. Is this normal/systemic or maybe something wrong with my unit?

Sounds very much like an alignment issue. Can you try with the HQCT1 from the XTroniC-site? That one automatically aligns the tuning frequency based on the tuner's unique values, don't know if the RR software does that?

Hello, I have been following this thread for a while, and saw all the issues with the connector.

While at my local electronics supply store, I noticed that they had a bunch of the Female Motorola connectors with about 6 or 7 inches of coax. They can be soldered to a connecotr such as the SMB, or perhaps, they can be soldered directly to the HQCT. THey are not that expensive.

If anyone needs a connector, let me know.

actually after i found the adapter at crutchfield it was no biggie. I was able to get my HQCT to recognize once. and was a decent signal. The Next day, It would not recognize again. says unknown device. its gotta be something with the usb to usb cable. Anyone know where I can get a usb header to header. that works well with the HQCT?

I got mine at Frys.

I had one that kept registering as some wierd device and it would show an error in the Windows Device Mgr. Also, it wanted a device driver. I think the cable must have had some "intelligence".

The new one worked right away. Now sweat and no driver.

Those are not a Header to Header cable. Those are a Header to USB Female. There is a difference. I will buy one and wire the two headers together to make it work but it wasnt what i was asking for.

walter. what you describe is the exact errors im receiving. sometimes i can connect others its an unknown device that wants drivers.

One other Issue im having(when it does connect). I have the output from the HQCT going into the cd-in on the motherboard. I am not using the onboard sound, I am using the audigy 2 zs notebook card. I have no sound output from that cd-in unless i try outputting from the onboard sound. anyway anyone knows to make the cd-in on the motherboard output to the audigy? Some type of driver or applet or setting I havent been able to find? Ive searched for the past few days and havent found anything. Someone has to have something similar that has this workking.

Diogenes. Thanks for your help and the links. When I had it working I had a set of headphones plugged into the onboard port to make sure everything was good. I must say I was getting good reception and it sounded great. you guys did a good job with the card itself.

Look for the winamp line-in plugin, that should do the trick...

Don't know of another solution for the moment...

I am trying to have as much as possible NOT directly connected to my laptop and instead with my docking station. Is this impossible with the HQCT?
