Now only if that little program could also mirror the displayed image...! I signed on to the forum in the company that made it and placed a request. I many people from here ask for it they might do it in reasonable time.

all PDA's I have looked at have a transflective screen I thought you need a transmissive type for use with projectrors? would this make any difference.
Was also thinking it might be hard to remove all the bits from the back of PDA so we could add a brighter backlight, but it is cool idea this would be an easy way to get a vga screen. Because although we know they exsist I cant find a place to purchase, they are designed for companies to buy in bulk to put inside equipment. We may be able to get some testers from manufaturers if we pretend to be a business.
Is there a way to use the PDA as a virtual monitor for carpc through wireless lan rather than usb?
Maybe with some winVNC software.

actually this program can do it over wireless LAN. Active Sync 3.8 supports that.
Also our original idea is not to project the image since the HUD need minimal light to work we just reflect it on the windshield. Read the beginning of the thread for more info.
I have been wondering if I can just use the screen from the pda. If it uses some standard system like LVDS/TTL we could definitely do it but I could not find any info on that. I have an old Casio cassiopeia E125.

@shotgun- hehe, we'll see if it works over linux
@spaceskater, wait, you want it to mirror the orignal display screen or mirror the H axis? It can do that...infact, mine's been doing that for a while now. Use VNC veiwer ot TSC that should be on your PPC. Casios included. If you don't have it, they're all free DLs. For the H axis, there was that program i was tell you you guys abouit. I was going to see if it will do it per display, but you guys didn't seem to want it so its in a folder somewhere...
But my question to you is this: why bother? I used my PPC as just a demo, but i would never loe a touchscreen that i could use elsewhere...since the nitemax LCD can do its thing quite nicely at 64-x480 on RCA or S-Vid, i am temped to just use that
One other thing. I'm realized why the HUD form weartronics was on top: a legal loophole. The top 6", which not only makes the image closer and more readily visible, but you can literally do ANYTHING youi want tint or film wise to the top 6" with legal impunity. I mean, we're going for cool and all that, and we know its doable, and that's why there wasn't much discussion on it. Overlays and everything are cool, but maybe we're focusing on the wrong 6" of the windshield....
Food for thought![]()

heh ei'm not saying it wouldn't, but then again, if we're using it for nightvision, i woudl assume that your attention would shift a bit from the dark road ahead to the illuminated road ahead.
I'm not saying let's do it, i'm saying its an explorable option with less....complications.

Tomorrow is my last final exam. Then I'll have 10 days with nothing to do. Guess what that means! I will spent a lot of time on my slowly progressing projects like this one. I fount that dy magnifing the image enough and thus dispersing the light, the douoble image problem is deminished! I told you before but all my testing was done on my desk at home. Now I'll do some field testingGrab a nitemax lcd plug it on my carpc and see what we get! I'll keep you posted! I'll try to find a way to focus my camera so i can get some pics... no manual focus...
Genesisfactor you worry too much about the legal side of thing...You worry enough for all of us so I'm cool about it.

I have some books on aircraft cockpit display systems which have whole chapters dedicated to HUD if I can be of any help I'll try!
