Should be more than big enough, we're still hitching on the projection part though.

On another note, think I might have found some breakout cables for the Nitemax feature connections. This would greatly simplify wiring. They should be here tomorrow, I'll let you know if they fit.

Ok, got the plugs today and no joy, they look exactly the same, I mean exactly, but double scale

Using Molex SL pins like I did previous works, but is sloppy and hard to fit them all (if you wanted to use all the features that is).

Got those samples, no worky, they are bit gloomy, most of the are for rear projection,

i am thinking of something tinted,

BTW, we all have been concentrated of making this as legal as possible, i am not that kind of person, so i was thinking what kind of screen tint would you guys use for such application

    thanks in advance

Well, the HUD part itself is easy. The HUD glass linked earlier works fine, I'd imagine there are many that would work, including clear plastic. It's the focusing that's a problem at the moment.

But if you were to ignore that, it's really as easy as putting an lcd on your dash, put some 3m privacy filter on it to hide it and so it doesnt' distract you (or the cops) and you're done.

Though sunshine on it all day is probably really bad for the LCD.

Regarding those samples from holo-whatever, I got some too. They have potential, I was tinkering around with them and my LCD projector.

Possibilities...rear projection HUD, or even better, TS.

I called the company they are based in the U.K spoke to a very nice gentleman who informed me that evaluation kits will be available in April the estimated cost is £45000 (thats uk sterling)
but is v. interesting stuff once in production then the cost of the unit is expected to rapidly decline.
But is a long way off..
any other ideas has anyone tried using fresnel lenses u can get kits with all different ones from science shops for £20 over here to try

Yeah, people have tried that, at least a little. The big thing is this.

How do you front project something on to a reflective surface and not see the source. It's like shining a flashlight at a window and only wanting to see the projected light, not the flashlight itself.

Maybe it just needs a bigger fresnel, closer to the source so there is less disparity between the projected and viewed image, meaning you can still see the projected image, but if it's almost the same exact size as the focused image, I'd imagine you'd notice it much less.

There are a few things I've been meaning to try, just haven't had the time with trying to finish up redoing my leather interior install, carpc, front-end software, and dozen other things that need to be done. Oh yeah, and work

Another viable options is to just get a bigger LCD, and just reflect it off the collimnator like in the first tests. Yeah, it won't be focused, but OTOH, it's no different than looking down at your gauges and refocusing like almost every driver in the world does now.
