I'm an idiot when it comes to glass.
Maybe because I bought the screen for £100 = about $200

Damn that's crazy. And I thought $99 was expensive for one... That's how much retail used to be here. I picked mine up off ebay for around $40. Then a few months ago, I bought 5 of 'em for about $15 a piece.

I get all my carpc stuff for free... I just fix a customers car.... then I use the money they give me to get pc stuff

sometimes penny wise, dollar foolish... I've done a few laptop carpc installs for CHEAP.... I've installed for UNDER $200 & even included the screen!!! some toughbooks, I think the cf 27's ?... took a 12v input.... didn't even need a power supply, ran one off straight car battery for almost 2 years...

you can get a panasonic toughbook WITH A TOUCHSCREEN for dirt cheap even.... I used to collect them

please don't take this as a downer for this thread! just pointing out the obvious before everyone is fighting over these & driving the price up ....

this is still a cool project, but not necissarily the most direct route to a cheap pc install..... for $20 it's a no brainer to play with these though if you want to play...

guys I have everything needed including the naughty bios and the serial cable needed here.

Sadly my net connection is down and I cant send out any files atm but will be able to do so monday.

As stated in post #1 I have the full wiki and how to aswell as ALL of the needed files (including the self written video driver by the WIKI's creator AND the naughty bios file)

I will respond to the pms and send out the emails sometime monday, keep them coming I prefer to do them in large clusters to save me time.

Overall size for EVERYTHING needed (kitchen sink aside) is about 9mb.

    Peace til monday then

You dont have to use ebay you know.. mine came from circuit city for the princely sum of $20. Open item, they had a few of them (none left now tho).

Youll find that used they wont sell, simply due to the subscription charges..

Anyways, that aside I want to lay out a HUGE thanks to Tiddler who has kindly offered a limited hosting of all the files (including all the juicy bits) on his space.

You can find it here - http://www.dynamic-i.com/carpc/MSNTV2HOWTO.zip

And it'll be there for a couple of weeks

Thanks again Tiddler, now if someone gets to do the hacking first can they post progress here please? my cable will be made by next monday apparently and will take a week to arrive (coming from UK) so til then my hands are tied.

If anyone uses suse linux I would love to see how they get on, seeing as that's what I am going to use.

So guys, do you think this will help me score with chicks?
