thanks for the breakdown on ibus WiredWRX. I suggested the 2003 3 series because it does not require any of the additional cables to run. Some of the Higher end Bmw's use digital audio converters to transfer the audio. For the car pc use we will use the standard analog audio.

.. the software will be for the Roadrunner front end. you will also need a 10k ohm resistor from radio shack.

the hookup is not that hard.

Any chance of a standalone application? I'm not a big fan of RR, but would love to add this to my CarPC setup.

That would work too, heck I'll even take a shot at creating an interface for it if I know how it communicates. I'm taking a look into this iBus rarr that was posted.

Right now its running by using the BMW ibus analyzer software.. so it should be simlpe to make a stand alone program. Im just working on ironing out the actual BMW codes to send to control.

this weekend i will be mapping out the codes and hopefully working with some of the ibus guys to make the software. Right now here is what we have:

Manual Mode (1 on the BMW)
< = Tune .2 dn (< on the BMW)
> = Tune .2 up (> on the BMW)

Scan Mode (2 on the BMW)
< = Scan Dn (< on the BMW)
> = Scan up (> on the BMW)

Preset Mode (3 on the BMW)
< = Preset Dn (< on the BMW)
> = Preset Up (> on the BMW)

Input Mode (5 on the BMW)
< or > Switches between FM-AM-AUX-IPOD

Settings mode (6 on the BMW)
I will dosument this later.. it should be set to Tr3 - Which will allow for 20 character diaplsy

All of this will be organized in a nice manual once i get it figured out

Tonight is testing night for Roadrunner! IbusRR is nothing but a specialized version of Ibuscomm which takes commands from Keypresses or Other software to send the Ibus code. Unfortunatley i have only used it with RR.

What is to be expected: Full control of the HdRadio unit but still no feedback from the unit until i can get someone to pull the raw output into roadrunner or any stand alone software of their choice.

Ok, i finished the skin for RR to control the Radio.. it works! Now i just need to find out how to import the RDS information into RR..

We all have Warfield to thank for this wonderful software that works with Rolf Resler's Ibus interface...

I sent a PM to warfield to find out more about controlling the software via a stand alone program.
