Red face How to hack Infiniti M35 navigation

My 2006 Infiniti navigation is such a pain because most functions can be input only while at a complete standstill. Anyone know how to hack the nav system so I can program, i.e. input addresses, program the features, while on the move? Thanks.

Go and ask your dealer, or search online. There's a way on the new GS430... you go to the climate control (IIRC) and towards the left side, touch the screen on top and the bottom (repeat like 5 times) and you get into a special mode. There you can disable that. I assume the M35 is similar.

    Check on a Nissan/G forum.

    There is probably a hack.

On the GF Lexus, you have to go to a blank screen by hitting a button from one of the menus, and then touch the screen in a bunch of locations (there are no actual buttons on the screen, you just touch the places anyway) and then you get a hidden menu, and choose overide. On her car, have to dfo it EACH AND EVERY TIME we start the car if you want to have the overide.

could you approach it from the hardware aspect rather than the software hack/override. Fool it into thinking it is not moving maybe?

I don't know how these work, but it could be as simple as a parking wire needing to be grounded.

It probably uses the gps to determine if you are moving, and you wouldn't want to disable that, would you?

Well, in my "older" 2000 GS400, I had to find the "vehicle speed sensor" wire that fed the NAVI unit, and install a relay in it with a switch. Then, when I need the overide, I hit the button (it was a momentary, and I set the relay to close after 20 seconds), input the info, and then waited till 20 seconds elapsed for the GPS to start working again. WIth the sensor not connected, the system as a whole suffered from serious lag time, so the wire needed to be connected during normal operation, but the system ONLY used that signal to know when the vehicle was moving.

most if not all cars that have this feature on their navigation are hooked into the parking brake of the vehicle so if you wire that so it is on a switch , tada
