if you dont mind me asking...why are replaceable opamps such a huge deal to you?
it could be nice with replaceable opamps, but not many boards have them :/
as i see it right now this is my priority list
1. auzentech x-meridian
2. audiotrak progigy hd2 (depends on quality, but replaceable opamps is definatively a big plus)
3. asus xonar
4. X-fi prelude (some says its nice other says it sucks?)
5. M-audio

Amplifier#1 (Front Stage): DLS Ultimate A4
Amplifier#2 (Sub) removed
because then i can get better/other opamps that fits my needs/ fits my system better than the stock ones...
but ofcourse i can find a soundcard with good quality without the replaceable opamps, i will maybe go for that...
but the reason i placed the audiotrak at 2nd place is also the price... it cost (in my country) about 70-80$ less than asus xonar, then i could use thoose money to upgrade the opamps...
found a review on the audiotrak prodigy HD2:

gets high scores... but i will not base my decission on one test...![]()
still searching...
i just recieved my onkyo se-90pci from japan. looks beefy, still building my pc so no review. theres a good chance i would have bought the audiotrak had i payed more attention. i kind of jumped on the onkyo just cause i had a good feeling about it. lol. it looked stout and didn't have the bells and whistles i didnt need. check it out.
good reading.
yeah i see its only stereo but you don't need more in a car
it got a god review on the site your linking to, could have been fun to see the finished mod and how it sounded...
and it's cheap![]()
im seriously considering to use an headunit between my com and my amps...
i have been looking at the pioneer p88rs (last years model) what i have heard, it should have good SQ... but don't know how much that matters when i use the com for playback...
actually i just saw an onkyo se-200pci on ebay... could be a possibility too...
ebay
have you checked out the bloat usb dac? after reading a little about it and seeing the fully upggraded group buy it was almost enough to make me grab one.
if i wouldn't have spent ~$400 getting a sound card and a case to fit it i would have gone that route.
i don't understand why anyone would use a hu with a carpc (radio maybe?). not saying its wrong, i just don't get it.
i will definatively try to check it out...
well as i seee it, the HU could be used for:
+ radio
+ easier cd playback
+ lots of tuning on the HU too likke bass level, EQ etc etc...
+ "hardware" knob to volume up/down ( i know that there are knobs like the griffin powermate to do that, but i think a headunit will better fit with the rest)
actually it could be fun to try an install only with carpc and then try to change it to soundcard + headunit to see if there is a difference and the maybe try HU only
