SQ Sound Card

Hi everyone,

Im looking for best solution to use in my car.
For now Im find:
-Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1
-ASUS Xonar Essence ST or STX (but looks like that ST is better)
-Xonar D2/PM or D2X

Im looking for PCI solution, but If is any card better in PCI-E I can use PCI-E x1 on raiser adapter.
I need:
-Work normal on Windows 7
-Work normal in Centrafuse
-Support hibernate/sleep and normaly resume from this states

If I will use sound processor(Audison Bit One) need:
-Optical out which support PCM out 24bit/48kHz
-Mic Input
-2CH RCA out(If is possible balanced)

If I will not use sound processor:
-6CH RCA out BALANCED
-Mic Input
-Crossovers, TA, EQ and phase control on EACH chanel

As Im say It must work in Win7&CF(As I know it doesn't support ASIO).

As I know E-MU 404 is USB so is not option...

As Im say Im looking for good solution which must have all what I need and work without ANY problems in Windows7 AND hibernate/sleep. USB cards have BIG issues with hibernate/sleep...
Also please wait that first Me find PCI-E or PCI solution and then we will try find solution for you otherwise nobody will not receive answer an all will be mixed...

So can anybody help me with Best sound card for my project? Price is not so important but if will be 1000$ I will realy long think about it... :)

emu, the 404 is a fine selection to work with a bitone.

dejan, all thats needed is a card that either supports the kxproject drivers(some older sound blaster cards--full listing on their site), or has a wdm compatible driver that can be supported by asio4all.


so far, to get 6 outputs, i have used a older sound blaster card and kxproject drivers, a creative x-fi usb card+asio4all, and am currently using a esi gigaport hd+asio4all(my setup went usb becasue i did not have room for the pci card). all of these were setup to have 6 active outputs, using console to handle vstplugins for crossover, and eq.

Thanks for your answer.
Currently I don't know if I will continue use BitOne. If in Elettromedia will fix my noise problem then I will use it otherwise I will go for other solution.
Also Im not shure for ASIO because Centrafuse doesn't support it so I can't use ASIO drivers...
Are kxproject drivers supported in Win7?

i really have no idea if kx would be supported by vista/win7, the project is no longer being updated(i want to say the last update was in 05-06), mostly becasue the chipset that it uses is no longer being manufactured(to my knowledge).

I feel that you are misunderstanding asio slightly, so i will go a little more in depth: there are not any FE's or OS's that support asio, only audio programs like cubase, and console(there are many, many more-they are really called vst hosts). basically you will setup the computer to route its audio through the vst host, and in the host, you modify the audio, and then run it out to the speakers. all of this is done outside of the FE of your choosing.


my setup:
to get audio to my speakers, i have setup a virtual audio cable as my primary audio output in windows, then i have setup asio4all, and enabled the VAC as the input, and my audio card as the output in its menu, when i open up console, i go to asio devices, and the VAC shows up as a input, and my audio card shows up as a output. from there(every program is different, this is how console is setup...)i drag my input(VAC) onto the screen, and output(gigaport) onto the screen, and then add any crossovers and eq's that i feel i need. after that i make connections(wire all the devices) and setup the audio however i need to.
after this, i lauch rr and will hear music(now thats all that matters :) ).

Also Im not shure if this will work in CF because CF use normal mixer for volume and sound output...
RR can use plugins in winamp so can work with ASIO if Im right understand in few posts when Im see that talk about ASIO...

there is a asio wiki that you should take a look at. I had been in the same boat, as you-- knowing nothing about it, and tried to read everything that i could on it, but just ended up confused and wondering if it would work. (in fact my thread is a couple below yours-- its called ASIO questions and setup)

after downloading console, and the other programs, and playing with it, it all just started to click into place.

i currently am not using any plugins with either winamp, or rr-- this is where the virtual audio cable comes in-- by setting windows to use the VAC for sound output, any sound that the computer generates goes directly into my audio setup--it doesn't have a choice... i am not very familiar with cf, but i beleive that my exact setup would also work with cf (becasue i am routing the computer audio instead of just the winamp/rr audio).

console supports a couple different driver types, so as long as your onboard sound has a wdm driver you should be able to use console-- i would highly recomend that you download the demo to try to understand how this all works--it sounds very complex once it is all written out... but once you get it in front of you, it should be much easier to understand.
