Software options for Tuning

Hmmm...I woudl think your optical out would still work. When you get the DSP all setup though you won't need the optical out. Did you manage to figure out if it works for now so you can use your alpine still?

I am waiting...my company blocks new sites all the time. I feel your pain. I guess I "should" be working anyway. Get your home internet back up and running already.

Haha I got it set up yesterday! But then I had to format my PC due to some irritating svchost virus I couldn't seem to dispell, lol but soon the internet will be mine again!

yeah - the optic out works.

I have to admit, the kX Drivers are quite intimidating at first. i'm sure it will come in time, but right now I'm a bit confused.

I'm reading the beginnners guide that one of the forum members wrote up, it helps explain it a good deal.

however, I have to be in the car to play with it, and that's the only way i'm going to learn and understand it.

My lappy doesn't have a card that can utilize it and neither does my work PC.

Ya I gave up testing software in my car. Too much of a hassle since I live in an apartment. I test everything on my home PC first (and sometimes things at work

) and then if its worthy I install it in the car. Then I take my drive out and make a backup image of the drive when I verify its working. (I've had some hardrive corruptions that killed my carpc more than once). Then I can be up in running in 10 minutes instead of 3-4 hours later.

I think DSP connections/settings can be saved, but I don't know if those settings can be shared to other people using a different soundcard. Otherwise I would be willing to set something up an share it somehow.

Yeah, the kX drivers had me stumped for about a day and a half... then it all just clicked. It's not as complex as it initially looks, and I'm no genius... although I like to think i am.

The way it made sense to me is the DSP is just like running cables.

Yeah I got that idea from the DSP screen, its really a very neat interface.

I was by no means bashing the creativity, or ingenuity of the creaters of these drivers.

IMO they are just as Red put it, intimidating at first.

The fact that alot of the screens have limited to no descriptions, also did not help with the 'ease of use factor'.

I do the same thing, but what happens when your home PC gets destroyed from the hundreds of installations of uncompatible software? haha

Haha i'm pretty sure that my problems were because my desktop was essentially my test lab for my carpc for awhile, poor thing!

Has anyone tried Ozone for Winamp ??

Its a very nice DSP plugin. ATM still trying to come to grips with the DSP area of the kx drivers and all the plugins that it has to offer. I get better sounding results however with the Ozone plugin.
