seems i was a bit confused. i thought there were micro-itx mobo's also

haha nope, just micro atx, and mini itx

was planning on linking 2 DSATXs possibly...or working on another solution that should be available in the near future

considering that one or a mini-atx...using a Pentium D...not sure yet, depends on how cheap the Core 2 Duos get in the next few months.

setting up a computer to be neat is not a reality. Case or not, there's a lot of wires that have to be manipulated and routed.

As for space, there's tons of space avaliable in any car, you just have to hunt for it. Start looking behind pannels for starters.

Yeah true, I personally have plenty of space, I just tossed a mATX case in my trunk and was done with it. I use a mATX case/mobo and could easily sneak dual opus 150s, or DSATXs in it.

Pretty soon it'll go where my spare tire was, and i'll rebuild my false floor. No hurry here though, since i don't compete in any competitions.

I like the way your current setup looks, to me that is 'neat'.

There are tons of places that I could hide my computer. I have moved it around 3 times already. I chose under the passenger seat once I removed the Bose amp and removed some carpet padding. I needed a spot that was somewhat accessible so I can pull the computer out in minutes rather than hours but is still secure. I didn't want it in the trunk near my subwoofer because of magnetic reasons and cabling. I like my spare tire because you never know when you hit a Chicago pothhole that devours your whole car. One of these days I will get around to posting my setup. I am too busy playing with software right now.

snap out an interior pannel, remove 4 screws, disconnect wires from the car and I'm out.

Underseat installs really worry me. There's SO many things that can get under there...no matter how careful you are....

I know I have seen the thread discussing this...truth is my favorite spot was the center console but I got dinged too many times at shows for the outershell of the center console (the oem shell) moving no mtter how much I braced it. I have had the computer under there for 2 years now, all the cabling is routed under the carpet and blocked from the front and back, the hardrive is suspended and protected by the oem metal bracing of the seat. No water, no kicking, no catching of wires...etc. (It even survived an accident I had in my 04 Mazad6 when someone turned in front of me when I was going ~35-40mph. Both Airbags deployed and all)

I can understand what you are saying ..but you can never plan for everything. It's an ongoing battle.

I agree, mounting your pc under your seat is a no no. I've had friends spill stuff too many times.

I don't want to have to gasp everytime someone gets in my car with muddy/snowy boots. (well I do anyways, but carpet is alot easier to clean than a pc is to replace)

It's not a problem in my car. I am not going to debate this with anyone. Mounting it under my seat met my needs. My computer is inside a solid plastic case that if water got into it then I must have drove into a lake and then I would have even bigger problems. Every car is different and I thank you all for your concerns.

haha Yeah i tend to get really ****ed off when they do that garbage. Man is it infuriating. Have a little courtesy for another man's vehicle..
