Sorry, i got carried away. An FPGA is a chip that can be programmed to do whatever you want it to do. A FFT is a method of converting a stream of audio data in to a frequency plot so that the output can be grouped by frequency. This could also be done with a DSP microprocessor. However this requires quite a bit of understanding of digital signal processing.

The PCM2902 can still be controlled by an external clock... so how about daisy chaining a bunch of PCM2902's together, then using something like a TAS1020A to provide USB interface, connect through I2C and send a common clock signal to each chip. I have no idea on the software end for this though. Hardware wise you should be able to combine the two together using existing designs plus application notes in the data sheets with some minor tweaks.

the silverstone works with console... if that was a question in this forum... However, not sure how you would hook up two outputs in this program...

thats the main limitation I see... if windows sees each DAC as a separate sound card (likely) it will only allow you to activate one at a time I believe.

well its not even windows i think... its actually console, cause i can have music playing out of a sound card, and different music playing out another, windows will actually recognize many sound cards, 0-N or something like that...

However console is only letting me output to one sound device, think this is because i don't own it? If so I'll blow the 50, and keep moving

Ah yes i see what you're talking about now, I have the registered version of console 1.6 and I see no option to specify more than one input/output device.

So multiple single dacs are out. It has to be all integrated into one chip then. TI has some other DAC chips that are multi-channel

Nothing over 8 outputs though, so thats a max of 4 stereo outputs. And those chips require clock signal and USB integration. Although the TAS1020A I mentioned earlier might take care of both of those problems.

is there software that can create a virtual sound card, that can then route the signals to different sound cards?

While we're at it, does anyone have an extra flux capacitor, mine broke....
