heheh more thread jacking OT stuff sorry.

MECA has the 120V rule. I know IASCA has to have the rule, even though I don't have the rule book. They are the sticklers.

So let's try to get this back on track. Where is Scott_fx? I thought this would be up his alley?

These rack mounted solutions aren't any bigger then most of the amps your are going to be using with are they?

Size would my biggest concern as well, but, I still think if you want any chance of this working you'll have to run either PCI or Firewire.

There's more to an install than size alone. There's also the look and the finish. One of these units wouldn't do at all for nearly all of the installs out there where components are shown.

If the rackmount is thin you could mount it in your rear seat back. Seat up hidden. Fold seat down and then have it pop up from the seat back. I saw a car that did that.

That's about all I can contribute to this thread.

    seen pics of our car?

mounting to the seat back isn't an option at all...would see it from the trunk.

    I have a Yamaha RP-U200 which I like:
    http://www.yamahamultimedia.com/yec/...vit/rpu200.asp
Well almost, little skimpy on the Watts.

I would love to find an automotive equivalent version that could switch video as well as audio. Doesn't need the FM tuner. Having an USB controlled, Sound over USB (5.1) amp would fill my needs well. I have searched for weeks looking for a good solution to no avail.

Barring that, I will settle for piece-mealing together to accomplish my goal/dream. I am interested in what comes about these discussions on this thread.

It would all be inside the seat. No one would see it with the seat up or down unless you pop it up. It's pretty easy to adjust as well because the controls are facing forward. You just turn around in your front seat a little.

PS. This may be an option for Turbo as well assuming his back seat folds down. His processor is a bit thicker, so you might have to make the rear seat back a bit thicker to keep passengers comfortable, but all do-able.

There was a red honda with this arraignment (I think it was from Audio Express on 1960). They were associated with Eric Stevens of Image Dynamics. They had his old white Sable in their showroom (it was still competing) for a while and were using the ID horns, etc... I think they had a Yamaha processor in the rear seat. I got in to listen to some Pink Floyd at a show and didn't want to get out. It was sweet.

Ok read through the thread(been avoiding it). There's alot to tackle.

Why bother with so many outputs? Sure you get the computer to control all the frequencies but in the end 2 pairs are whats really needed for 90% of the installs here. Three pairs for for another 8%.

Those wanting more can use an external crossover. Instead of building the grand daddy 8 output + @ 8v I would say make a smaller goal of 2 pairs @ 4-6v. Once that's working well and all the kinks are gone then move up to more complicated solution.
