Hi,
I wanted to have an external remote power button on my netbook, therefore I opened it and managed to put 2 wires from the button inside, as given a tutorial here
http://www.mp3car.com/how-to-power-a...er-switch.html
The external button works, but one big problem remains:
I cannot power UP the netbook when the lid is closed, even if I press the external remote power button?
Instead, when lid is opened, the remote button works perfectly!
Does anyone has any idea how to fix this?

Belatedly: That isn't going to do anything for the OP since the hardware itself has no awareness of Windows settings in this case. Best option, and is easily doable in many netbooks/notebooks, is going in and disconnecting the lid switch and it should constantly register as being open. In my experience the vast majority of machines make this dead simple as it is just a switch on a short wire with a small socket on the motherboard. Easy to disable and easy to return to normal if you want the lid to work again.
