Hello and HUD Question *Preview of Theme

    Hey,

So I have been lurking around these forums for a few days now. Love what you guys have so far. Not only all of the information, but also (and I know from experience as I am an Admin of multiple forums as well) the atmosphere is great!

Well as for my CarPC set up, it is going into a G35 and is going to be a Mac Mini. I am a big Mac fanboy and have never been as happy with or as surprised with the reliability as with the computer I have now. As for the G35, I feel that needs no explanation whatsoever .

However, I have neither a mac mini or a G35, yet anyway. But, as you know, preparation is the key and I stumbled upon this amazing program, ICE3. Since my background is graphic design, I decided to take a break from grinding information into my head and design a theme for it.

It is coming along great, but I was just seeking some more information on customizing the HUD. I know of changing the logo (although is there a way to do it without having to click the center once it is set?), but what I want to change most is making the black box transparent. If that is the only thing accomplished, it would help me out a lot and make my theme look a lot nicer!

Anyways, again, love the place, and will be floating around here for some time .

    Dave

So I have basically finished my skin and everything is looking great.. I want to release it but I want to make sure it is right without the black boxes. Yeah "Boxes;" I was also wondering how to remove the black boxes on other screens (ie: behind track list).

    Here is a preview:

You have to play around with quartz composer and the HUDs. If you already know this then disregard. I didn't know a thing about quartz composer i just played around with it and modified the stock HUDs to come up with mine. Theme looks nice by the way.

Hmm, seems I can't get Quartz Composer to install right. Everytime I install it and open HUD.qtz (or any qtz file) I get stuck on "Rendering 88%" and if I try to click anything (like "Create Macro") an error pops up and quits

What version OSX do you have? I upgraded to Leopard and was having issues. Something with quartz composer Leopard and the Development tools changed a bit and was giving me issues too. Maybe someone else can chime in too.

Yeah I'm on Leopard; I'll try to see what I can find on Google now that I know it may be a OS problem. Thanks for the tip.

So I guess I downloaded the wrong version of Quarkz. I typed "Quarkz for leopard" into Google and got a working version like that.

Haven't read anything and I am just "winging" it, and I thought I found the solution, but it doesn't work right in ICE3. Any ideas?

Here it is in Quarkz Composer

    And when I load ICE3

this theme is sick!!! I currently run a dell xps laptop in my truck using a 10.4" lilliput w/ roadrunner front end BUT in the past few weeks I have been progressively making the switch to all mac after my iphone purchase. however the front ends for mac just didnt interest me much until i saw your skin :-D

when do you think your theme will be finished? frankly the pc works well in there now but no reason to swap for a mac that has less the capabilities of my pc via the front end and doesnt look very mac-like however your skin is sick and would swap to a mac just to run it

Well it is done now, except for the HUD. Just need someone to help me out with that. I am actually pretty surprised no one has replied (especially the guy who made ICE3). BTW, thanks

Well i can tell you what i did to make the Clockwork HUD. I used my background image as the image in the HUD. I then just had to play around cropping and resizing the image in the HUD so that when it is in ICE3 it looks seemless. Hope that makes sense.
