Yeah, SwitchResX has been impossible for me to get working right in my car. I hate it. If ICE requires 800x480 - I can't/won't use it.

    Heres my $0.02 worth.
I tried SwitchResX myself and hated it. For some reason the screen would drop "out of range" at random. I found DisplayConfigX much easier to setup and it is stable!
If you are using other apps that need more than 480 vertical lines, I understand your frustration.
I did consider using my screen at 800x600, but I found that the 120 missing pixels made the text unreadable.
I now limit all apps to only those that are shorter than 480 lines, and use "Killer App Launcher" widget to launch/change between apps.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a front end that could do everything.....

I have completely different experience - I picked SwitchResX over DisplayconfigX. I'm using it for more than 3 months now and didn't find any problem for normal use, so far. Plus it's free.

Is it a consistent or random crash?

umm it crashes when i skip songs or when it goes to the next song seems to be the only time it crashes i can go through cover flow all day and through the other stuff but i have 3k+ songs and i like to put it on shuffle and skip until i find one i like and usually that consists of 6-20 song skips before i end up stopping and it always crashes before i find a song and i have to start over. the movie function works good everything seems to scale better now. and the also i would like in to see the dim feature in the visual bar too as i use it most of the time and when i get out of work i want to switch to a less bright screen. or perhaps have is dim dynamically based on time like gps does?

Depends on the resolution of your screen. ICEł is 800x480 only and is set to display at the bottom left corner of your screen. We will be looking at different resolutions in version 2.

Interesting. I have tried to recreate the crash, but the best I can do is a slight pause. I think the only difference is the size of library. We are working on a different way of handling the database that should streamline the player.
In the visualizer and coverflow screens the dim and attenuate buttons are invisible and in the top corners.
We tried time based dimming, but found that we needed a manual override due to weather. Don't worry though, version 2 will have far more user preferences including a time based dimmer.

yeah I don't know it is that slight pause then it crashes I have tried shuting everything else down and making it the only running app and that really doesn't do much makes the app launch faster.I will take a short video of it and show you and if you want I can send you the crash logs too

    bikerdudepost,
Don't bother, we found the crash.
Unfortunately the new time delay on the visualiser bar had a slight bug where if you clicked a button when the bar was moving off screen, BANG it crashed. You must have kept clicking right when the 4.5sec had timed out.
Anyway, the problem is fixed, and the time delay has been increased further to 5 seconds.

I have added a sticky called "Latest Release", you will find the latest (hopefully final) build there.

Thanks again for the bug catching.
