Make 2 new boxes with the words in them and delete the code that places the words inside their current boxes.
    CarPC status:

    [XXXXXXXXXX] 100% Complete
    [XXXXXXXXXX] 100% Installed
    [XXXXXXXXXX] 100% Software

CarPC v1.2 is now in effect. Software updates and hardware additions to come.

SWW, I'm wondering where you are with this. After writing two responses in support of iNav in this thread, I am now in activation purgatory myself.

I reformated my hard drive because it needed a good cleaning. I then reinstalled iG4 and when I launch it the activation control box comes up. I type in my license and receive a message that the license has already been used. I then tried to transfer the license from my desktop to my carputer, but that didn't work.

Well I sent a message to technical support and they replied fairly quickly saying that if I'm using the same hard drive, which I am, iGuidance should pull the code from the drive, recognize it as being legit, and not request reactivation. That's a nice idea in theory, but it doesn't work. I'll let you know how it turns out.

It's not even that nice in theory. Once the drive is formatted it's basically a brand new drive as far as software is concerned.

Absolutely! That drive should be clean. There are some idiots in tech support everywhere now-a-days; don't even know the basics!

I am super late to this discussion, but that alone is awesome. I hated having to get a keyboard to the car when things screwed up...The button could be much smaller though and I would still be happy.

The activation bit is scaring me off from buying it now though...

SWW, where are you on this? I'm in the email merry-go-round myself at this point. I feel like I'm a beta tester for their activation code.

by "pulling the code" they may mean reading the drive's serial number from it's firmware. A while back there was some stink about some software companies kicking around the idea of tying the software registration to the CPU serial number. This went the way of the titanic though I think partly because of how often people change hardware vs software.

Still a crappy way of doing things no matter what hardware serial number you try to use. If they find a way to register the software to your DNA I bet they would. Of course..at least that won't change...
