    iPhone4 and USB hubs

I bought the 4 port USB Hub from mp3car.com. Has anyone had any difficulty with the iPhone4 charging while attached to this USB hub? The hub that I used to use in my mobile application worked fine with a iPhone 3G running v3.1.3 software, but the new iPhone4 with 4.0.1 I get a pop up saying that this device is not compatable with iphone. If I remove the USB hub, and attach it directly to the computer the phone charges and functions fine.

I noticed that that this hub has a DC power jack on it, would it make any difference if i supplied power to that DC jack? If so how much voltage?

If anyone has any experience with a USB hub that charges the iPhone4 please let me know.

    Thanks for reading!

I wonder if this has anything to do with your problem.

Yes, this is exactly the information I needed. I love the amount of detail that web page goes into as far as the progression of the way Apple engineered their devices. Seeing the schematics on that page explains how the iPhone4 charges through a USB hub. After I take some initial measurements, I will then figure out how to get the iPhone to charge on the USB hub. I am sure it is just a matter of changing the resistance from the +5 to the D+, and D- USB lines. I have a feeling that the resistance is wrong so the iPhone4 thinks it can't draw enough juice to charge.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply!

    You're very welcome.

Charging devices using USB is more complicated than I thought it was. I had a Samsung Omnia that I had a heck of a time getting to charge properly, so I keep my eye out for solutions.

It was nice to get all the information up front. The end solution is a powered USB hub to be able to supply the correct amount of power the phone needs, in addition to the rest of the gear i have on that hub, I will be buying a powered USB hub.

    Thanks kittu

    "Use the Belkin F5U304

Looking into a F5U307 7 port USB hub, I have alot of USB stuffs, plus it would be nice to be able to connect more then one phone to charge even if the computer is off.

Anyone wanna buy a Mp3car.com 4 port USB hub? lol
