we've known about that driver for a while, I've been posting logs using it. however there is no source for the version that actually supports the chatpad. I tried contacting the author but he didn't reply

Yeah, that driver is the reason I had ordered a used Mac laptop, though at this point I probably won't need it.

From what people have experienced, my theory is that the Mac driver only has chatpad support with the 360 default USB wired controllers, and not the "made for Windows" wired controllers. I think, HOPEFULLY, I know why.

Also, as far as I know that Mac driver does not support wireless controllers at all. I don't have a wireless controller or receiver, so unless someone loans me one or buys me one, I may not spend much time trying to add chatpad support for that.

Doh!! Do we need a separate contest for this?

If someone wants to remotely test hardware I'll work with them. I don't mind doing it for free, I just mean I can't see how the hardware works unless I have one in front of me. :P

If someone can verify that their wireless 360 controller works with Windows games, and they can post a device manager screenshot "by connection" that shows the 360 wireless controller and all devices underneath it in the tree, AND they can go into those device properties and show the VID and PID for the wireless controller, then we might be lucky and it might just act like a USB device. Otherwise, it'll involve messing with protocols or figuring it out from third party drivers (x360wc or whatever it's called?), I think.

    Thanks for your efforts GAFBlizzard.

    - The wireless controller works great playing MAME games under windows 7

    - Here's device manager by connection:

    - Here's the VID/PID snapshot:

Let me know if there's anything else that I can do to help test.

That's very strange, I don't see the controller itself under the by-connection view. Is it under the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System" tree? I see the Jumi Joystick, but the 360 controller should show up somewhere else...perhaps under USB connections in the ACPI-compliant system tree.

Ick, it's funky then. Hopefully some nice soul on the internet has already figured out the main controller part of it.

As a last request for now, could you post a device manager screenshot by device (instead of by connection), showing the 360 controller and any HID devices? Thanks.

Thanks. If it doesn't show up under human interface devices (you can unplug your Jumi joystick and then see if there are any non-mouse, non-keyboard HID devices left), then as far as I can tell it's a totally custom driver that acts as an XInput device. It might not be HARD to talk to it, but it's just an unknown to me right now.
