    Powermate Color

    Hi,

I was wondering if some tried to spray the powermate to better fit the dash color. I have tried to search for it on the forum but could just not find anything about it.

    With kind regards,

you should have it anodized like most aluminum is painted.

or powder coated. spraying regular paint will come off too easy.

Hmm that is to bad. I would like to have a black button but because it is pretty hard to get one from a reliable store I was trying to find out if it would be possible to recolor the silver one, because my interieur is black/dark gray. Well back to the drawing board again.

    Thanks for the information,

    With kind regards,

I guess you where on the right place at the right time. At all those sites the black one is out of stock. Mailed a few of them already they all told me that the wont be getting one soon. So i guess i will have to go with the silver one.

Well, you can paint it black. You just have to do a good quality job of it. But it will wear away on the edges quickly. Paint pulls away from a sharp edge when applied and is thin there.

Or you can take the body apart and have it either powdercoated or anodized as previously mentioned.............

    Cheers

Yeah I guess I will paint it (maybe if it is easy to pull the thing apart I will powdercoat it). Thanks for the info. Want to change the light to but he thats of later concerns.

I could also try to glue a plastic button over the current one which is already black but then it wouldn't be a nice alluminium knob anymore.

ok, well if you really want to try and paint it yourself..........

    1. prep it very well. Like get some denatured alcohol (hardware store) and rub/clean the entire surface very well with it. Make sure the cloth or towel that you are rubbing the surface with denatured alcohol is clean itself.

    2. get some really good paint. Enamel is the most durable, usually you have to "build" with it, and I think building paint layers won't look right on the nice and smooth powermate.

if you can't find enamel in a spray can, just get the best brand of spray paint you can, at auto paint suppliers they will even put any kind of paint you want into a small, reusable air spray can.

I think that as long as you don't bang your keys or anything else sharp and hard against your powermate, a spray paint job could last a while.

    good luck
