DTS doesn't just run on optic or coax. Your card can decode it and output it to multi channel analogue or you can use software to do the same.
I heve A usb soundcard and it playes DTS files and DVD's
but i know that DTS runs only with fiber optic or coaxeial cabels...
is it really DTS or "just" pro logic i'm listenning to...?

the more I think about it - the less sense it makes...
lets think of a simple music CD, it sampled at 16 bit, and in a rate of 14400 Hrz
16 bit X 2Channels X 14400 Hrz = 460.800 Kbit/sec
USB 1 can transfer up to ("up" to) 14 Kbps...
USB 2 can tranfer 100 and somthing
both canot tranfer that amout of data.. without downsample it to less then MP3
now lets talk about DTS it transfer 6 chanels and in much more Kbps per channel from the music CD
not even firewire 800 (that can get to 800 Kbps) can hendle DTS
that's why you need a cabel with almoust no speed limit (like fiber optics!)
I think this sound card is fooling me around, in the best case the quality is downsampled to like zero Kbps for each channel.
agree?
Your transfer rates are wrong its Mb/s and the theoretical speed of usb2 is 480Mb/s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB Well within what your trying to do.

you are absolutly right..
i'm reading DTS "bit rates up to 24.5 Mbit/s on a Blu-ray Disc and up to 18.0 Mbit/s..."
so we'r good..
now where can i mount a center speaker
thenks.. i'm feeling better now..![]()
