Hey guys
I'm trying to put the finishing touches onto my carpc install and the only thing giving me grief is audio. I've tried the wireless fm transmitters and they are total rubbish.
I found this fm modulator through a link on this site ages ago: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...r&i=142FMMOD01
My understanding of how that thing works is since it has an external power source it should give it the extra grunt to broadcast over the top of a local radio station. Is this correct? Will this device provide similar audio quality as a decent radio station?
If anybody has any other ideas that don't involve installing a 5 channel amp I would love to hear them.
Cheers
Brad
Cheers mate, ill give it a go. It broadcasts on 87.9 and 88.3. 88.3 has a broadcast on it here that you pickup close to the city. Ill give it a go anyway, can only try!
What a crock! I just tried to order one from Crutchfields and the bastards don't ship to Australia! Why is there absolutely no support for carpc's in australia! So frustrating!
Crutchfield isn't in the CarPC game.
While their lack of shipping to your country is certainly frustrating, I would not consider that a lack of support for Australian vehicle computer hobbyists.
There must be something like that you can get localy, it's not carPC specific - why don't you look down-under!Sorry, couldn't help it.
I know partsexpress ship international, might want to see if the carry it.
Cheers lads, after some late night googling I managed to find the Scosche modulator on an aussy site. Hopefully it does the job well enough to keep me happy until I can afford an amp! Thanks for the help.

If one were to never listen to the radio, and opt not to plug in their antenna, would the aux broadcast reception be a lot better?
The FM transmitter that we're all discussing will do very well compared to any wireless one. This model actually cuts all incoming radio signals and puts your aux signal in place. Meaning only a VERY strong radio signal(one you would get without an antennae) would interfere with your aux input.
