Voice recognition technology hasn't advanced in the last 10 years, and isn't going to anytime soon. It's basically a blind alley for anything more complex than "play next"

You can either train each command to you and only you, or have a general but very simple command set. There's no other option out there. That's why voice-rec software is free. =)
There's nothing you can't do, so don't be discouraged just because no one else's done it.

    What other components were necessary

Aside from the component on the link, what did your basic setup consisit of. What functions were you able to control thru the HU.

    Thx

    Question Controlling with a PDA?

Sorry if this has been talked about elsewhere but its my first post....

I want to build a Car-PC with the normal screen and what not but I would like to replace the various remotes with my Ipaq 2210 PDA as it has the Nevo remote control software on it.

I know I can teach it to understand the codes from existing remotes but (here comes the hard bit) I would like if possible to have the PDA use its bluetooth function to talk to network with the PC to control functions.

My ideal would be to have the Pda become an all in one remote for the whole system with the added option of having a fully interactive screen that could replicate some/all the functions of the main screen.

    Tall order I know...

So in short does anyone know of any software that could allow me to have a number of buttons on the PDA that I could then use to make the do things ?

    thanks

    David (newbie)

I have seen Dragon Speak voice recognition software working (used in our company for dyslexic people and those with RSI) and it does a pretty good job. Costs a fair bit though but I might try it out! A good mic will be essential, Bluetooth of course.

I'm not sure what effect the loudness of the music will do to the mic picking up your voice though!

I didn't see anyone mentioning the ON Digital remote/keyboard.

Combined remote / Qwerty keyboard Girder code.
