I'm not sure about all the features that the NoviiRemote software offers, but how about the OmniRemote software for palm http://www.pacificneotek.com/download.htm? It's free, and can learn just about any remote codes... Granted, it's more for a home-theater kind of use, but some might find it useful...

There's also an app out there for palmOS called IRMonitor (free), that scans for IR signals in the area, which might be very useful for testing if whatever transmitter you're testing/working with, is actually working... It's available here: http://www.pamupamu.com/soft/irmoni/irm.htm

There's also this 6.5" x 3" exposed keyboard (it apparently comes without any housing, just the keys and PCB, for custom mounts): http://keyboardspecials.com/mini.htm. It's the 3rd image down. I sent them an email asking for more info but it bounced, so I'm going to try to call them on Monday.

Hey I'm thinking about using a joystick as a mouse and integrating it into the center console somehow so just the stick is protruding from the console along with surface mounted buttons. The joystick in question is the Saitek Cyborg 3D(picture attached) and the car is an 1989 Jeep Cherokee LTD.
Would this be a possible route or would I be better off going with a wireless mouse/trackball?

I thought about the cyborg, too, for a minute. I think I had an issue the wiring and signal muxing so I went with the Logitech. It was an almost perfect fit over my gear shifter in my Eldorado. I use the 8-way hat for mouse movement and between the 6 buttons on the joystick and four more external I can contrl virtually anything on the computer. My son and I like it so much I've done comparable mods to his mustang convertable, too.

How has it been since you have gotten a few more days to play with it? I ended up finding this post after I ordered one yesterday and was wondering if it does pretty much everything you need it to do or if there are some other shortcomings besides the F keys thing you said.
