    Touchscreen install questions

I recently got a 10.4" touch overlay from digitalww. The thing is I really don't have a clue which side of the overlay goes toward the LCD and which side faces the outside. Or does it matter?

    Someone please enlighten me here.

If you go to their web site you should find details on how to install it... Being a newbie though someone here may also be able to help you as well.

why not just hook it up and try it. You don't have to "install it" on the lcd. Just lay it on the table. Hook up to the computer. Load the software and try to calibrate. When you touch the overlay, you will see the cursor on your monitor move to a particular corner. If it doesn't move, or moves to the wrong corner, then you have the overlay in the wrong orientation.

because I don't have the LCD controller yet and I wanted to work on the bezel. It will require an exact fit therefore I wanted to attach it to the LCD.

but isn't the lcd controller separate from the touch screen controller?

The touch kits usually came with the overlay and USB (or serial) controller card. As long as you have this much, you can test.

I realize this, but I was being lazy and was hoping for an answer as opposed to a debate. I don't have the LCD controller therefore the LCD (obviously) won't display any data. Also I don't want to hook it up to my desktop. I've been having enough troubles with it latley and don't want to install any more unnecessary drivers. I'll just wait for the LCD controller.

It doesnot matter which side you install it! I installed mine, looking at the screen, with the wire on the left, with the lable "up"!
also you want to download the driver from the website, because I had problems with the software that came with it on the cd-rom.
Armen can point you to the website!

AFAIK - The ribbon cable coming from the touch screen will come from one side of the glass or the other. The side that the cable comes from directly is the touch screen side.

I fix many of those goofy Maxx Games that you guys see in lounges and they all work the same as above.
