Having problems with a Xenarc touch
I recently bought a second hand 7" touchscreen. It worked perfectly in the sellers car and when I first set it up and installed it on my desk. This evening when I started it the touchscreen wasn't working. Nothing, nada, not a squeak. If I start up hyperterminal and set it up as com1 at 9600 then as I touch the screen it both beeps and shows it as receiving data.
So I uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled everything. Went into the panel program and clicked add. After a few seconds it popped up a msgbox saying "No More controller".
This pc is running XP home so I tried it on my laptop running 2000. Exactly the same results.
Is my touchscreen toast? Or can anyone think of a way of testing it? I'm completely inept with anything electronic so I'm not too keen on opening the case!!
Hope someone can help

Did you install the drivers for the touch screen on your computer?

No, that didn't work either. I do hope this isn't beyond salvation.

when you install did you make sure that the PS2 box is unchecked? I checked it once and it didn't work, they said leave it unchecked.

Yes, I had that problem the first time I installed it. After I unchecked it the touchscreen worked perfectly for 2 days. Then when I turned the pc on the touch had stopped working even though the monitor was still working.

I'm not having much luck with these things. The first one gave me an electric shock when I touched the case and this one turns its toes up 2 days after I bought it!

Have you guys checked the mother board serial port settings in the bios? Try a different IRQ setting. Sometimes there is a conflict with other hardware devices.

Well,
I found the problem with the touchscreen. The connector had fallen out of the socket.
Much, much more worse is the cable connector has come of the card. The wires that connect it are smaller than a hair. Does anyone know if the board is replaceable or if the wires can be reconnected. Would need someone with incredible eyesight and a tiny soldering iron!
