Mini-Pac Wiring questions, electrical advice needed!

Hi guys,

So here's my wiring question....

I now have this device in hand http://www.ultimarc.com/minipac.html

It's a tiny board that sends custom commands to a Mac or PC...it has buttons and joysticks possibility...

I wanted to know how should I connect my buttons? I'm usually good with wiring and electrical stuff but there's something I don't get with this device.

I know it can achieve what I wan't which is reroute some custom buttons to my MAC, pretty straight forward!

It looks like it's designed for common ground, so connect ground to one side of each button, then work up from the bottom of J1, connecting brown to the other side of button 1, then red orange yellow to 2, 3, 4...

Yah, looks like you connect one side of the switch to the header pin and the other side to the ground. Since there's only one ground on the board, they sell you a daisy chain harness that connects to that ground and then each of the connectors on the daisy chain go to the other side of the switch.

You can do the same by using a terminal block with a bus bar from Rat Shack. You connect the bus bar side to the ground on the mini-pac and then each switch has a lead that goes to the bus bar.

They use spade connectors on the daisy chain because the arcade switches they sell have lug connectors on them. You won't need that, depending on the switches you are using.

BTW - you can test all this out by using a short piece of wire like a paperclip bent into a U shape. One end on the ground header and and touch the other to the switch header pin to simulate closing the switch.
