thanks whistler so did you need to add any resistors?. if you get a chance pics would help.
i dont have a radio and i tried tapping into the wires under the column. i get the same results either way. i checked the wire with a multimeter and i know they are restive out put so im not sure why im haveing such a problem with this. i thought this was going to be the easy part of my pc install but so far its giving me more problems than anything else.

Disconnect the remote controller from car audio, and connect it to the CarPC JoyCon(EX) only.
If the remote controller is resistive, it will work. The red indicator will appear at different place by the button press.
i have no radio and i ahve confirmed restiance out put. when i connect the joycon the red indicator appears about 80 percent to the right when no button is pressed. and every button press moves the indicator all the way to the max. what i really dont understand is i get the same results with or with out the ground connected. ive tried multiple ground spots includeing the factory ground.

    Hello luna123black

Can you check the resistance and voltage between DATA and GND(of the remote controller, not connecting CarPC JoyCon EX or other device) with multimeter?

If voltage is checked, your remote controller is not resistive or you have wrong wire.

If your remote controller is resistive,
    no voltage must be checked
and the resistance is 0~10K(or 100K) when button is pressed,
and the resistance is infinite when no button is pressed.

The resistance will be infinite (open). The firebird controls are resistors only between the 2 wires, if the connector under the column is not disconnected it's just going to be open with no buttons pressed and 12V when any button is pressed. In other words, the radio has a pulldown and if it's not there, then 12V (255) is all you're going to get without your own pulldown.

Bcause car radio is 12V system, DATA can be 12V when the remote controller is connected to the radio.

CarPC JoyCon EX is 3.3V system, so the remote controller can not be connected both to radio and CarPC JoyCon EX without pulldown circuit.

The radio doesn't supply the 12V. That's somewhere else. Disconnecting the connector under the column is the only way to remove the 12V. Then it's just 2 wires with resistance only when buttons pressed. So it sounds like there's a 3.3V supply and pulldown for that in JoyCon and it should work direct without modification if connected that way. Otherwise 2 resistors to divide the 12V down to 3.3V

first let me start by saying thank you to everyone for all the help but especially thanks to curiosity. he knows my car better than i do,

ok so what your saying is that if i just connect it under the column it should work. any idea what 2 wires i need to connect it to on the 4 pin connector. im going to go play with it some more but what exactley do you need me to check?. maybe i have my multimeter on the wrong setting. i should have it set to ohms right?. what range should i have it set to?.

thaanks again for all the help.

ok well i think it may be working after unplugging the column i tested all the wires. found out it wasnt the inner 2 or the outer 2 like i thought it would be. its acutually the second and fourth wire in the harness.(yellow and white wire on the column side)

ran the joycon explorer software and every button press now moves it to the left and seems to be in different spots. then like a idiot i pluged the harness back together with out thinking and fried my powered usb hub so couldnt test or program it.

so know does any one know what the other 2 wires are for. im gonna guess the lighting on the steering wheel controls cause some how i must of sent 12 volts through the joycon into the hub.

so after 2 joycons a powered usb hub and a bunch of resistors im in about $200 never been so ****ed to have something working lol. oh well my own stupidity i guess new hub should be here next week. then i think i may be finished with this install for now.

D'Oh! I'm sorry to hear about that. Yes, there's 12V going into it. That's the yellow wire. Blue is the other side (DATA). Black and gray are for the lighting (ground and instrument dimmer power).

On the other side of the plug is black, green, brown, yellow.

Guess I should have checked just a few hours sooner.

thanks curiosity im still alitle confused about one thing. all i did was plug the harness back together. i didnt connect the joycont to the wires that have 12 volts. i guess a wire could have come loos and caused a short but just to confirm when ithe harness is clipped together thier shouldnt be any voltage going through that data wire.
