Turn on front camera

Is there a way to turn on a front mounted camera when my monitor switches from PC mode to one of the AV modes that the camera is connected to?
I don't want to have it powered on all the time.

a better question might be why you have a camera mounted to the front of the car..

you should be able to connect the camera to a switched acc line-- that way, it will only be on when the car is on.

The front camera is there because I find it near impossible to judge how close I get when parking etc.

I only want it powered when I'm about to use it

then you'll need to use a switch..

Usually mounted cameras do not consume much power so it's easier to just leave them on when the car is on (i.e. powered by the PC power supply).

i use my front mounted camera for when i'm on the race track to record :p
