anyone using FIR port on EPIA M board?

Is anyone here using the FIR infrared port on their EPIA or EPIA M motherboard? if so what did you buy and connect to it? I have a Irman but I dont want to use it if i have to because I want to free up the seriel port for something else. Id rather use the default IR port for the PC anyway, makes sense.

Does anyone have a piccy of a home made remote reciever that would work with a FIR port?
I have a home made standard ir reciever that works with most standard IR ports on older motherboards, but the FIR port has an extra pin. Doesnt work with it.

yeah i saw that, but it says EPIA 800 seriel port.
Ive got a EPIA M with a FIR port. Not much info on it either. Anyone else know more?

it LOOKS like a FIR circiut but I cant tell where the Rx2 goes. and there is a open ended mode wire there...maybe they match up. thanks for that anyway!

I've emailed the guys at VIA and they sent me a contact for a third party FIR module for the EPIA 800. I've emailed this contact and should hear form them soon. I'll keep you posed.

yeah ive already got a irman and preddy remote, i just want to free up my seriel port so i can use it to comunicate with my haltech E6k engine management computer. That way I can use my car PC to do my engine tuning and stash away my laptop.
