Thread: What keyboard do you have in your car?

I use the SMK Link Ultar Mini Mouse and the 80-key Mini Flexable keyboard. They are perfect for my truckputer setup. the KB rolls up and fits into a nice small clear plastic tube that it comes with and fits right inside my glove box. the mouse is SWEET!!!!! its wireless, USB, and rechargable. When im driving i just keep it charging all the time. it uses a magnet to attach itself to the USB end to charge. below are some pics of both. also links if you want to buy them!

I'm new to the carpc stuff, I'm just building a pc myself(DD) and I have a question, do you need a keyboard and mouse?

Not necessarily, if you have a touch screen monitor.
And BTW this keyboard looks nice, but try it using while driving :-)

I use a little cheapy bluetooth mini, but after seeing that Rii on page one, I feel like I made the wrong decision *lol*

I just picked this one up this evening to try out. So far on my laptop it works like a breeze. No setup at all, plug in the 2.4Ghz dongle and away you go. It's made for the PS3, works perfect on the pc, backlit, and cheap (feels a little cheap but it's not like I'll be using it for self defense) - $29 at wal-mart


:edit: looks like Windows 7 detects all 3 devices. A mediacenter keyboard, a game controller, and a mouse. Under the Devices and Printers control panel you can even customize settings for each. The mouse doesn't actually work, but the game controller does. The POV hat as well as 13 buttons function. Actually kinda cool for a $30 wal-mart remote. Have to see how it does in the car though.

But I recently got the BT version of the Rii keyboard for use with my HTPC and it is very nice. I actually like it better and it's small enough to tuck in the car somewhere.

The one in the picture here works pretty good though, it's just that it has no Function keys and some of the keys have weird labels, like RF activates the backlight.

^^^^ I have the version of this keyboard sold here on MP3car. The back light is nice but I find the hard plastic case and hard to push buttons very hard to type on. And the keyboard layout is bizarre IMO. It is rechargeable and the battery life is excellent though.
I would make a different choice if I was to replace it.

At the top is broken Umax illuminated keyboard. In the middle is iOne wireless keyboard - this is my favorite, but have horrible power consumption. The smallest keyboard at the bottom is my current keyboard. It sucks writing on it.

One comes w/ a 2.4ghz USB receiver that communicates with the keyboard.

The bluetooth unit communicates via bluetooth.
